3men2s
Lookin good 3men2s. Love your headers and the 'straw' thing. Them straws come in quite handy! When I checked your thread the other day and seen the reference pix ---at first I thought you had super detailed your engine & @! but then I woke up and realized they were pix of a 1:1. How you gonna mount the engine? I'm building SKWIRLY 2, am going to scratchbuild a blown VW similar to yours, but I'm hoping to have 4 seperate pipes hanging out back. Gotta come up with some kinda frame based on wheelbase, front & rear axles, etc, and haven't figgered out how to mount the engine yet. Probly when I get the engine blocked up it'll help me see . Good luck, keep up the good work. I am working on that. I have to build the rest of the tube chassie and when the back is done, I will create the brakets that hold the trany to the chassie. I have to work on the back axle and do the shocks and connect them to the chassie. HOW?...will cross that bridge when I get there. Can't belive what happen to your bug. thankz for your comments. 3men2s
the rollcage was to low and I did not like the bug to have an inacurate interior, i re did it and started a new one , here is the progress.
VW Dave
Needless to say, I like this build a bunch. The merged header looks really good, and those rat's nests of tubing can be difficult to get right(I'm glad my 1:1 Manx has one for reference purposes). Michaels craft stores have bead cones that can make great looking scale stingers: And here's one on my '56 RustoRod: 3men2s - PM or email me your snail mail address, and I'll send you a few of those beads for future use. 3men2s
Dude I went crazy looking for those down here before I started but they didn't have them, will keep checking cause it is the right one for it, I used them for slot car drag bugs and they look cool. CB
Cage is lookin' goodly......... What color's it gonna be? Yellow or orange would look good IMHO. Also, for them stingers, you could use ferrules off'n paint brushes. Bug's lookin' good, keep up the good work.
VW Dave
Dude I went crazy looking for those down here before I started but they didn't have them, will keep checking They changed the packaging/branding in recent months, so it has been harder to spot them. Luckily, we have three Michaels stores within a short drive of home. Repeating what I said in my previous post: PM or email me your snail mail address, and I'll send you a few of those beads for future use. 3men2s
THANKS CB BUT WHEN I HAVE LEARN FROM GREAT BUILDERS THAT DO DETAILS THAT YOU HARDLY SEE BUT IF YOU LOOK FOR THEM, YOU FIND THEM SOMETIMES I GO TO SHOWS AND WHEN I LOOK IN THOSE LITTLE WINDOWS....I WANT TO GET IN THEM BECAUSE THEY LOOK SO COOL. HOPEFULLY WHEN I DETAIL THE CHASSIE MORE I CAN DET THAT EFFECT. I WANTED TO OPEN THE DOORS, BUT I DECIDED TO KEEP THEM CLOSE CAUSE I MIGHT USE BODY FOR SLOT CAR RACING LATER. THANKS FOR THE COMENTS.
