ismaelg Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Wow, I can't believe it's been 20 years already! October 26, 1988, The Callaway Sledgehammer Corvette set a world speed record for a street legal car of 254.76 MPH. Non other than John Lingenfelter did the driving duty on those runs. The record stood for over 17 years and I believe it was recently broken by a purpose built car, not sure but I think it is related to Saleen. I've always had in the back of my mind the idea of doing a model of this car. Who knows, maybe someday I'll jump in... Here is a video documentary of the test. Thanks,
Clay Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 (edited) I see no picture Edit:: Nevermind, Google is my friend. Did you happen to see the 2007 Callaway C16? http://www.tuningnews.net/news/061204a/cal...orvette-c16.jpg Edited October 28, 2008 by Clay
ismaelg Posted October 28, 2008 Author Posted October 28, 2008 cool video, thanks for the link! i have had one of the speedster kits stashed away for a really long time wanting to convert it to a coupe but never had the ability to do the body work or the guts to take on the conversion. these are some really cool and unique Corvette's and for some reason seem to be looked over by many. Dave If you are willing to wait, I promised a resin caster I would do a master for the Callaway coupe so it can be offered in resin as a body transkit. But that is still far into the future...... Thanks,
Nick F40 Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 (edited) ohhh man I love this thing, the sweet sound of the turbos, ohhh RIP John I'd love to do a model. I know the Aero TT did a world record run but Saleen had a special car based off the S7 right? I love playing this one PGR4, so powerful. The new C16 half looks like a DB9 in the front.
