djway3474 Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Rolled this car off the assembly line this week. What a piece of junk this kit is. I bought a bunch of the 57 Vette flip nose kits for the wheels on the cover. The wheels were not in the box and I was quite upset. Also the quality of the kit is just junk. The mounting tabs are often as large as the part. Very poor fit throughout. After 4 hours of trying I gave up on the flip nose. If I were to do it again I would scratch build the flip mounts. I made these decals long ago and I did the lettering in gold foil. I found the wheels in the parts box. It looks OK on the shelf. ismaelg Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I hear 'ya! But you did a great job with it! It certainly looks cool....
Olle F Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Hey, that looks great, and you did a fantastic job considering what a miserable turd this kit is. I'm struggling with one right now, and the flip nose sure needed some surgery to fit the body. It was too tall, to wide, the pressings on the sides were shaped wrong and didn't line up etc, etc... The fit is halfway decent after some tweaking, but it will take a Herculean effort to make it perfect so I have decided to make this a primered weekend racer and just live with the imperfections. If it looks too bad, I can always display it with the nose flipped open... Here are some "before" and "after" pictures:
KENNEDYJR Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 (edited) That is a rough kit , but yours turned out real nice. Edited November 6, 2008 by KENNEDYJR
