Merkur XR4Ti Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Those worn seats look very nice. You may want to add a huge tear in them along the seam lines to show a large chunk of the upholstery missing; right now they look like they've been slashed, but in a lot of older cars I've seen the upholstery separates at the seam and a large area of the interior of the seat can be seen.
E St. Kruiser50 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Hi Erick I really enjoy this whole thread of yours. Lot's and lot's of cool idea's and project's here. The Creative Explorer Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 Thanks guys, Very much appreciated for the positive comments. Progress has been slow, but I manage to finish the first Christine and working on the second. I hope to finish that one this week, when that one is finished, all I have to do is to finish the beaten-up Christine, which will be still quite a lot of work. But I have scheduled a airbrush-training, which should get me more familiar with my double-actions airbrushes. I do have to practise some more on the polishing, I do a poor job at those, I can´t get the surface near a piece of molding right and sand through the edges. Plus a lot seems to go wrong with Christine #2, since the paint is chipping off, I get glue stains in them and the wheel stance is way off. So not that much to write this time, but enjoy the pictures: *Oh, I just wish they didnt had so much Chrome in those days
The Creative Explorer Posted January 10, 2009 Author Posted January 10, 2009 Today I finsihed the second Christine, apart from the hood. I wanted to respray that since I wasnt really happy with it. And since I have to move out of my house tomorrow, to start my new job on monday, this might going to take a long while I really hope to get working on the thrid asap.
plastikfreek Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Major props to you------------ You are doing a great job on these builds......I can't wait to see more of the "beat-up" Christine.......
whale392 Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Christine a 58 Belvedere equipped with the 350cid Big Block engine? The distributors are to the rear on the engines in these builds (suggesting they are Poly motors, but the valve covers are not correct for a poly engine) and the big blocks had the distributor up front angled off to the passanger side. The builds look great; keep them up, and enjoy.
ericmaxman Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Ohh.. Nice builds.. Too bad I'm a little too late here, but following your progress, it does look awesome. I did watch the show once, and boy was it good. I wonder where can I find the book.... Cant wait to see the completed pics.
The Creative Explorer Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 Thanks guys, I very much appreciate the reply´s. Not big of an update today, I managed to spray the white´s on the third Christine. I am doubting on putting a few layers of clear over it or not. The body needs to be aged anyway, and I think the matte look will help better than a gloss one to achieve the goals. What do you guys think?
Rudy Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 WOW. Just awesome. One of my all-time favorite movies since I was a kid in the 80's. Just a suggestion for the seats, maybe make some of the material go horizontally across the seats or in different direstions, add some duct tape, and possibly a spring or piece if metal sticking out of the seat. Just an Idea. I have yet to try the BMF route, but want to get some and try it. It really is a must for accurate models. Also, where did you get that cool stand for painting bodies? I want one! You have given me the bug, off to evilbay to find this model...... Rudy
RodneyBad Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) They are looking really good. and to think, your building 3 of them Very Cool, hope to be able to see them in person. Major props to ya.. Edited February 8, 2009 by Zukiholic
The Creative Explorer Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 Thanks! Rodney, I build only two versions. 2 like brand new and 1 like the first appearance in the movie. And you know the story behind it ;-) The paint stand is from Tamiya, I think they should be around 20 dollars if I am correct. And no, the seats will stay like this. From the reference pictures I have, none pieces of metal were sticking out, just damaged rips in the upholstery. And this is the closest i can get ;-)
RodneyBad Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 They are looking really good. and to think, your building the same car in 3 totally differant phases of her life span. Very Cool, hope to be able to see them in person. Major props to ya.. What was I thinking of? a little taste of the spirits makes one see things. LOL.. I thought I was seeing double seeing 2 Pristine Christine's and a well worn one When you see twins, it's hard to tell them apart..
The Creative Explorer Posted February 8, 2009 Author Posted February 8, 2009 It is trully a long time since my last update, but I don't spend hardly any time online anymore, I'm sorry about that. Job is demanding and in the few free hours I spend them with my girl and a little bit of modelling. In the last month I worked hard on the Christine and even took yesterday a refreshment airbrush course, organised by the Dutch IPMS. I took the dirty Christine with me, so that would be my test-subject. I also am going to save for a Evolution airbrush, since the Double-actions i had, where not what I needed. So let's go and save! I have a lot of pictures, I hope you enjoy! Till next time.
RodneyBad Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 WOW! that Christine is looking perty bad or perty good at looking Bad. Good? Bad? Either way. Really like how you got the fender, grill, headlight area bent out of shape.. Nothing that a Can of Bondo and some spit and polish can't fix.. That's what I need, a refresher course in Air Brushing. Mmmm.. Those sandwiches got me hungry..
Merkur XR4Ti Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Just wonderful! Awesome, awesome job. I am amazed.
The Creative Explorer Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 Thanks! I guess she looks pretty bad or something hahaha. Yeah, I am pleased with the outcome, I guess I was lucky since I am definately not an airbrush pro. Now I need to work on the diorama and I can be done soon and then get those baby's to Portland
evilone Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Who painted these they almost look real?
