Anyone deal with Motor City Resin Casters?

It appears Motor City Resin Casters is somewhat back in business. He is now going by the name Renaissance City Resin Casters and selling on Ebay as jebal_19. Currently he has about a dozen different kits listed. I haven't attempted to contact him through Ebay about the kits or refund I never received. I'm certain it would be in violations of their rules and don't want to jeopardize my ability to sell. I know he stopped answering my emails more than a year ago as with everyone else he owes money to.  Just thought I should pass this info to all.

I sent a note to the seller.  He said he purchased molds and back stock from the former proprietor of MCRC.

There are about 12 kits listed on Ebay.  Seems like the new sellers price is twice as much or more when I bought a 71 Mustang coupe but that was probably over ten years ago from the website.  For the Mustang kit I believe kit it is meant to be used with the older MPC 71-73 kits and not the newer Revell ones.  It would probably work with the AMT kits which have the larger insert for the rear tail light section and bumper if you modify the resin kit.  Personally I would recommend using Gerrys coupe resin casting and use most of the Revell 007 Mustang and the chrome bumper from the Boss 351 kit.  That would make a nice replica of a very rare 71 Coupe with a 429CJ engine.

I sent an email to Jeff Ballard not expecting to get a response. Surprisingly within an hour and a half he emailed me back stating that he is physically unable to do casting anymore and has turned the business over to his son. Also stated that in the future his son "MAY" help him to get "SOME" of his old orders filled, but that his son is in no way responsible for those orders. I have talked with a cousin of mine who is an attorney in Texas. She told me that she wasn't exactly sure what the law is in Nebraska where I live, or in Michigan where he lives, but was reasonably certain that when you sell or turn a business over to a family member or anyone else for that matter, that they not only are acquiring all assets but all liabilities as well. If he had not filed for bankruptcy before turning it over and notified all debtors in writing then the new owner would be responsible for those orders. She also suggested that anyone who did not receive there orders or a refund contact their state Attorney General to see what can done on their part as every states laws vary. It has been less than a year since he took down the website so he is still responsible for those orders even if they are 4 years old like mine. Depending upon how many orders where taken and how much money was collected he could be looking at federal mail fraud charges. If he was selling internationally, well that's a whole different story. Keeping his website up and still taking orders when he hadn't filled orders that were years old, basically shows he had no intention of ever filling them. It makes you wonder just how many folks out there lost their money. Could be a thousand or more and at an average of let's say $100 per order. That's a big chunk of money.

At least with him selling on eBay now, there may be some chance that he actually fulfils orders.

Only if you jump on it quickly.

A few years ago I ordered a resin kit from an eBay seller.  No problem with the transaction.  Not long after I "won" another resin kit from the same caster/seller. Time passed. no item.  I sent the seller an email.  Received a list of reasons why he did not honor the auction result.  He even sent me pictures of a really serious back surgery scar. By the time I realized I had been victimized it was after eBay's deadline.  I am still waiting for the product.

Well, I lost money to MCRC. After 2 years I finally convinced paypal to refund me, then I think they may have shut down his paypal acct. I purchased an El Camino last week from jebal_19. It arrived today, (shipped monday). Very prompt shipping. The kit is gorgeous. Very straight and well packed. Nice chrome bumpers. No complaints on this ebay transaction.
