itsadaytona Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Ive been using Model Master Silver Chrome Trim paint to detail the trim parts on my cars, but I dont think its shiny enough. Any siggestions on a better more shiney paint to use?
Mike Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 (edited) Bare metal foil for trim and body parts. For larger items like rims, exhaust, engine parts, etc. Alclad II chrome through an airbrush. Here's a Cobra I recently finished. I used the Alclad II Chrome on the wheels and side exhaust. Edited November 17, 2008 by Mike
VW Dave Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I don't airbrush, so Alclad is not an option for me....that being said, I've had very good results so far with SpazzStix rattle cans. It's a little spendy, and only one local shop carries it, but IMO it's good stuff to try.
itsadaytona Posted November 18, 2008 Author Posted November 18, 2008 Yeah, I dont airbrush either. So Ill give that stuff a try. Thanks
rollover Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I'll add another vote for Spaztix spray. I get as good of result as I do with Alclad II with less clean-up.
made007 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Alclad chrome comes in spray cans too. i was about to say that, lol
MikeMc Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Alclad chrome comes in spray cans too. Just be sitting down when you ask the price!!!!
JamesW Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Alclad chrome comes in spray cans too. i heard the alclad can't be handled at all, as it will rub right out
rollover Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 The Spazstix holds up pretty well to handling, I would'nt rub real hard but it will hold up to some handling.
sak Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 alclad will rub away but that should not effect most peices like valve covers . The bumpers you have to worry about, but you should not be picking model cars up by the bumpers anyhow. I pick them up by the roof usually as I use bare metal foil for that chrome trim piece and it wont rub off.
