Altered Ego Posted January 5, 2022 Author Posted January 5, 2022 I do the same as EngineerBob, I cut the body, but I use a Dremel tool. The only time I have used two bodies was on the Thunderbolt when I "stretched" the rear openings similar to a modification made back in the day. I agree with you on the AMT AWB kits being junk. The Georgia Shaker above was an AMT AWB body mated to a cut down Moebius Comet chassis. I am setting up to do the same with new Moebius Chevy II Gasser kit. I am going to mate the AMT AWB body to this chassis, altered of course, to create a Dick Harrell AWB version.

This is Don Nicholson's altered wheelbase version of his 1965 Comet Cyclone. Built with Moebius' Nicholson Comet with the rear axle moved forward 18". Still remember seeing Dyno Don in the 60s....well done!
Altered Ego Posted April 17, 2022 Author Posted April 17, 2022 My first attempt at the Moebius Chevy II is a lame attempt at the Steve Bovan 396 supercharged Chevy II. The only departures from the box kit is the big block Chevy from the Model King Twister kit and the cut down Willys traction bars. 2

Altered Ego Posted May 14, 2022 Author Posted May 14, 2022 Here is my second build of the Moebius '65 Nova Gasser. I had this planned from the time I first saw this kit. Unfortunately, virtually nothing is interchangeable between this kit and the Twister altered wheelbase Nova. I cut down the chassis from the Moebius kit and mated it with the Twister body. It required ALOT of surgery. I used the Twister big block and dash panel to keep it true to the Dick Harrell car. The wheels and tires are from the Moebius Golden Commandos AWB kit. 2
Altered Ego Posted December 26, 2022 Author Posted December 26, 2022 Thanks to MW Elky for the inspiration and the information on the decals for this build. Also, thanks to Zen for providing much needed parts. I kit bashed the Moebius Chevy II gasser kit and the '64 Nova kit. I used Thunderbolt traction bars and crossmember to create the traction bar assembly you see in the picture. I also reconditioned the wheelie bars in the kit to be radius rods for the front axle. Again, referencing the brackets on the front axle in the picture. The big block is from the AMT '63 Corvette kit and the front tires are also Thunderbolt pieces. My biggest issue is finding a set of headers to fit. 2
Scott8950 Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 Nice chevy ll... Here's a few of mine, I'm still working on olds and valiant. 2
Altered Ego Posted December 27, 2022 Author Posted December 27, 2022 Nice work Scott8950, that Valiant is super cool!

One would think that a decal maker would come out with a really good Dick Harrell sheet , a Steve Bovan , and a Texas bandit just to name a few

Scott these all look amazing, but the olds is my favorite that rear body line over the wheel wells looks like it would be tough to keep right, and those headers look really bitchen. What color did you use on the Kelly Chadwick sedan?
Scott8950 Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Thanks... The olds is a resin piece I got the body in a trade so not sure who makes it. The headers are from the rat packer actually everything is rat packer except the body . The Chadwick chevy ll is Duplicolor Cayman green met.
Scott8950 Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 (edited) Supposedly this 61 impala was built in the late 60s and even though it's ugly and rough I'm gonna leave it as it is. This thing has dual slicks and a blown hemi moved WAAAY back with the driver in the center. Edited March 6, 2023 by Scott8950 1
Altered Ego Posted March 6, 2023 Author Posted March 6, 2023 That is way too cool! I could easily see someone in the Southeast building something like that to run at some backwoods track. Definitely leave it like it is. Even the weathered paint makes it look like a survivor someone found in a barn.
Scott8950 Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 (edited) 66 Plymouth fury. Built similar to car on box. Edited March 25, 2023 by Scott8950 3

papajohn97 Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Altered Ego/ Scott8950/ M W Elky: Really loving all these AWB builds you guys are posting! These were the most interesting years of drag racing history IMO. The technology was advancing from weekend to weekend between ‘64 -‘66, NHRA be damned! I need to get to work and build something and join this posting party! Thanks for the inspiration guys!
Mopar2 Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Awesome builds.Love them all.Good job on all your builds...
Scott8950 Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 (edited) I had alot of trouble with this and nearly tossed it back in the box. It's far from perfect and after several mishaps I kinda lost interest in it but I went on to finish it. 66 hemi under glass body (front wheels moved forward), awb rat packer frame modified, mpc 69 barracuda interior tub shortened, johan cuda wheels (not accurate), resin hemi with auto. Transmission and rearend and front suspension also from rat packer.. Edited April 2, 2023 by Scott8950 2
Altered Ego Posted April 3, 2023 Author Posted April 3, 2023 Scott8950, I love this build. I have been looking at these cars for inspiration to build one. This is one is very inspiring and very well done. Everything about this build is cool. Thank you for the details. I am thinking maybe a Yankee Peddler in the future.

Thanks, I'm planning on doing the Yankee Peddler coronet sometime soon.
Altered Ego Posted April 3, 2023 Author Posted April 3, 2023 I have at least 4 Coronets planned. Have been collecting parts for awhile now.
Scott8950 Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 I've got 3 or 4 coronet resin bodies, all are post top awb copies I plan on using the moebius coronet and swapping bodies.
