Robert81 Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 (edited) This is Lindberg's 34 ford pick up. I shortened the flat deck, to be more in proportion with the rest of the build. I filed the bottom of the tow boom to decrease the angle it was at. I built the duallie rear tires by using two different wheel backs and a deep steel rim. The front rims are steelies from amt's 51 Belair. The hub caps are 50 ford pick up stockers. The rear axle is box stock with a model A axle with the spring removed up front. Added a parts box Hemi. The carbs and scoops are from the 56 Ford Vicky, and the exhaust manifolds and valve covers are from amt's model A roadster. I cut and rebent the tail pipes from amt's 57 300 c. The stacks are in the 34 Ford truck kit. The top was chopped and the body channeled. I added a recessed sheet styrene firewall. On to the pics. I hope you enjoy. Comments welcome, good or bad. Eshaver Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Hummm, uh I would add fenders as even in California where vehicle equipment laws are vague . Outside of that you might want to add a towing bar across the lower portion of the bed to allow you to actually tow a vehicle . Right now you only have the necessary equipment to extract a vehicle from a ditch. Over all, the idea is great and thanks for sharing it with us ! Ed Shaver

Ed Shaver Well, if this is supposed to represent a tow truck that could actually tow a car, then yeah... you need a bit more equipment! But I have a feeling you intended this as more of a "styling exercise" than a realistic tow truck... so in that case you're good to go!
Robert81 Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 (edited) Thank you, guys for the comments. Ed, I'm not familiar with how vintage tow trucks where equipped. But I'm sure they never looked like this. Harry, are not most models "styling exercises"? I'm glad you like it. I've been a hotrodder at heart since I discovered Hotwheels. Ledsled, the baby Hemi doesn't hurt. I'm really glad you like it. Again, thank you for the comments. Edited November 19, 2008 by Robert81
