Somewhere an Oldsmobile stylist is saying "Doh!"  The car they should have built.  Awesome job on that conversion, looks fantastic!

It does look like something GM should have made doesn’t it ?  Thanks Roy!

I think we’ve all been guilty of that a time or two! I hate waiting for things to arrive in the mail! I think that’s why I have so many projects going at once! Waiting on one, hop to another.

There is comfort in knowing I’m not the only one. I have never been good at starting a project before one is complete. I will plan and do mock-ups, maybe choose wheels and tires, but that’s as far as I go until a current project is complete. That process will start soon, not 100% sure what will be next... 70 1/2 Camaro, 72 Jimmy, Subaru Brat, Chevy Luv..... decisions decisions!!

Hi Steve!

Wow, what a great finish. Looks like the perfectly orange peel-free  paint has exactly the right amount of shine. And the stance is spot on.  Bravo!

My dad had a 66 Buick that was exactly that shade of tealish blue. Brings back memories...

Thank you Claude. My brother in law has a 67 Olds 442 in about the same colour too. I didn’t bother with trying for an exact match, just a close approximation. Obviously it must be close enough to the right colour if it brought back memories for you. Thanks for sharing that, I love those little snippets of stories that pop up all over this forum. I really enjoyed your story on Francis’s thread about painting the Harley tank for a member of Rush. What a cool memory.

Hi Steve!

Well, I'm afraid I spend more and more time reaching back to memories, these days. Working on model cars allows to let your mind roam for them freely. Part of the joy of modeling, consciously or not...

Thank you Ron. I must admit foiling is probably one of my least favourite tasks when building, however it is worth it in the end. This thing had a LOT of trim to foil!! Thanks for having a look sir.

Small update,

I added the seat belts, used a small and slightly re-shaped piece of styrene rod with a slot to accept the belt.

The interior door panels , dash, sub-woofer, and glass are now installed. I added a hood prop, as previously mentioned, I realize it is not factory correct but it will keep the hood open to show underhood details.

I received the parts I was waiting for this afternoon, so full speed ahead.

Beautiful. I love the water bottle! Made from clear sprue?

Hi Greg, actually, the water bottle was from a set with 1/24- 1/35 scales. I believe it was from Meng? Years ago....

Hi Steve!

That overhead view is sweet! All those AN fittings (Earl's?) and wiring details make for a very convincing engine. Bravo!

That engine bay is a work of art, well done !

Thanks fellas, you are too kind. A couple of rad hoses should finish off the engine bay. This will be under glass sometime over the weekend. I appreciate you following along.

Look at this thing...  That engine bay is like a treasure chest Steve, the hood will just hide that superb work but thankfully it's removable...  You can be proud my friend!!! ?

Francis, you my friend are waaayyyyyyyy too kind. I humbly accept any compliment from you. The hood will indeed always be open, as I stated before, it is nice to know that I CAN close it if needed. I’m already looking forward to the next build, going with a modified Chevy Luv...

I really do appreciate your following along here. Builders, (artists) such as yourself have already taught me so much, and inspire me to be better at a hobby that I have been doing most of my life. I won’t ever achieve the level that you masterfully work at, and I’m totally good with that... BUT! I do improve with every build, and absolutely love this hobby!

Steve....I have been looking for the photos of your finished model but can't seem to find them elsewhere here on the forum, so I will comment here.

Last time I looked at your project you were just getting started.  I was then stunned when I saw the images of your completed model.....beautiful craftsmanship and a great realization of a very cool design theme.  I am wowed.  Great job and congrats to you....TIM .

Hi Tim! I must say that I am honoured to have you compliment my build, thanks so much. I have admired your builds since I started in this hobby. It’s not quite complete yet. I should put the finishing touches on it today, then I will get some photos and put it under glass late today or tomorrow.
Thanks again for the kind words and for having a look. I hope you will have a look once I get some better photos posted under glass.

Hi guys, this will be the last photos for the WIP. She goes under glass later tonight or tomorrow.
I had the idea of doing a “power tailgate”. The photo includes my blurry finger, if you look close you will see a power switch inside the box, just push a button and the gate lowers! If I was clever enough, that would actually work, of course here you just have to use your imagination.

Next photo is a teaser before the under glass photos.

I want to sincerely thank anyone who took the time to have a look at this build progress. For those of you that offered ideas, thoughts, photo shopped photos, and the kind words, a huge thanks, it truly is appreciated. I hope you enjoyed the thread, and if you got this far please keep an eye in the “under glass” section, I managed to get some fairly decent photos this afternoon.

Cheers, Steve
