hedotwo Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 I've now gone down the airbrushed Molotow road and don't see me returning to either Alclad or Spaz Stix anytime soon. Unthinned at around 15psi or so, it sprayed nicely. It will self level so you'll need to lay it on somewhat wet. I found that being patient letting it dry naturally (without forcing with heat) for a couple of days resulted in it being more durable than I was expecting. At least durable enough that if you've pre-fit your pieces ahead of time (which eliminates alot of extra handling) the shine will stay. To be safe, I have tight, thin cotton gloves that I use for final assembly of chromed pieces. So, downsides are durability and detail hiding coverage to get a very shiny finish. Works great for bumpers and other flatter surfaces, but I'll still use Spaz Stix spray for things that I don't want heavy coverage. Upsides are that it's easy to lay down and yields the best chrome-like finish I've found. None of this is news to many of you, but I had to share my experiences.
PappyD340 Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Looks fantastic, I might have to give that a go also!
TransAmMike Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 Sure does look good, gotta think about trying that out. So unthinned huh? Hmmm.
TransAmMike Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 Now that we're on the subject, Molotow, Alclad or Spazstik?? Sorry if this has been covered already, if so just steer me in the right direction to look.

I’ve tried all three lately, and whilst I’m not an expert by any means I thought Molotow was the ‘brightest’ of the three and easiest to apply, whereas Alclad has the most realistic looking metal finish to the end result, and Spazstix was about as good as Alclad and slightly easier to apply, and more durable. Something I liked about the Spazstix in particular was that if you apply too much and it dulls (like Alclad can too) you can let it dry and buff it back to a perfect shine with a q-tip and it’ll give you a perfect shine. They all have their place, and everyone else’s mileage will no doubt vary but that’s how I would describe the differences - they all have their place.
stitchdup Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 try these for protecting item you've used molotowe on. The gauzy stuff is good but I haven't tried the s-02 version yet. just be sure to leave the items a few days before coating
hedotwo Posted January 28, 2021 Author Posted January 28, 2021 Funny you brought up S-02 Les, I actually bought a bottle on ebay a few days ago and it's on its' way. I just looked on Amazon for the intermediate Gauzy and see they have another Gauzy product called Glass Coat. I haven't searched the forum yet for info on this stuff.
hedotwo Posted January 28, 2021 Author Posted January 28, 2021 Just searched and found this glass coat may be essentially Future floor polish

The gauzy stuff I have works for the molotowe, I used it on the fuel rail for my escort and its been handled loads since with no ill effects. Its self levelling too so you can put it on with abrush. I'll be trying the s02 later tonight and will update on it tomorrow
