Hey guys,

I know I am not alone in that I started building model during the pandemic.  Made a couple Bandai snap together star wars ships.  Then got a tamiya Mercedes SLK.  Learned a bunch.  Like, the glue will kill my paint job instantly, and that glue will suck itself into cracks and go right through to ruin my paint job. One thing has me stumped.

This Tamiya kit conveniently came with masks for the windows to paint the black out edge.  I tried to do with with a brush.  It did not work.  Paint went under the masks, and in the case of the back window is ran along the defroster grooves and covered a lot of the window.  I was using Tamiya X-18 semi gloss black acrylic paint.

Couple of questions:

1. What can I use to get this paint off the clear plastic?

2. I googled and could not find any tips for doing this with a brush.  What are the options?

Thank you in advance for any info!

Almost certainly that paint will come right off with some isopropyl alcohol without leaving a trace.  I’d use a q-tip and just clean it up as required.

A lot of people like a chisel tip Sharpie for doing those black bits on windows - the chisel shape makes it easy to follow the raised edge (if there is one) and you won’t get any bleed under the masks or tape ??
