ismaelg Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Hello, This is the 3rd and last of the "barn finds" for now. This is the Monogram Testarrossa convertible. I built this one around 1987-88, not long before or after the 308 rebuild. Most likely, the 308 was painted with the leftover paint of this project. When I finished this model, I clearly remember thinking "WOW, I've reached perfection! It doesn't get any better than this" Today I think "yeah right....." This was my best work to date at that time. I also clearly remember after finshing it, proudly putting it in the dining table so mom dad and my sisters could see it when coming home. Keep in mind it was a VERY solitary hobby back then, and it was still 4 or 5 years before I even met other modelers, thanks to a college graphic artist. This was one of my last car models before defecing to the aircraft side for a few years. Time has not been very kind to it. the wheels have lost some of the chrome and the paint is not even a shadow of what it was. But I think the enamel has fully dried Ohhhh the memories...... Now for the small part request: (I know there is another forum section for that) Would anybody happen to have a spare driver's side windshield wiper for this? That seems to be the only part missing. Thanks,
Gray Smith Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Ismael, Sorry I can't help out with the part you need, but man this brings back memories....I built this kit many years ago, and believe it or not I painted it the exact same color...lol, it was a very good kit for its time. Its always cool to find some of your old builds to see how far along you've come... take it easy Gray
Len Geisler Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Great pictures..... I too built one of those way back when, where it is now, who knows. I do have a new one on the bench though and hopefully I can do it justice....
ultraliner13 Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 I have been building model trucks for nearly 30 years and I still like to look back at some of the old builds I built many years ago. My first truck was the Ertl paystar 5000 mixer. I call it number one and it still sits proudly along side my latest build. My first truck means a lot as my dad and I built it together. Cheers John Wilson
