Brian Austin Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 That's not the cab I was expecting to see on the ramp truck. :-)
RSchnell Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Here's a shot I snagged from Cult TV Man's Facebook page showing the ramp truck in the background. 1
Smoke Wagon Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Those renderings got me smiling, particularly the 4x4 pickup with the roll bar and brush guard, although I can’t tell if it’s supposed to be a factory highboy or not. That wrecker looks great too. Thanks for sharing ? 1
Mr mopar Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 I can see a Dodge Cab on the ramp truck and ditch that Ford cab !
1972coronet Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 What's with that line of twenties and that sole c-note ? Was there a backroom bird fight or something ?

Probably to give perspective on the size of the model......and to show off how much cash they are carrying around. That picture was probably snapped in Vegas at the IPMS Nats.

stavanzer Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 As far as putting different Cabs on the truck, there are several choices to be had right now. '78 Dodge, the '91 Ford F-250/350, the '64 & '72 Chevies, Even the IMC/Lindberg Dodge L700, and others. Anybody who is really motivated will be able to kitbash something nifty, PDQ. Since it looks like it will be slightly bigger & heavier Duty Looking, than the one from MPC that was just released, it should fit well with larger truck chassis.

The long 1 ton ladder frame will make the MPC racers wedge frame look ridiculous. As for kit bashing with other cabs, need to swap in the appropriate front suspension as well, pre '67 Ford and pre '72 Dodge 1 tons used straight I beam front axles
Oldmopars Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 My wallet is really going to suffer in 2022. So many great kits on the way.
bisc63 Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 I'm curious, roughly when did this type of ramp become available?
leafsprings Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 I would say the early 60's when ramp bodies started to appear, and always on a custom stretched frames, unless it was a 1 1/2 or 2 ton truck etc.

I would say late '60s, when the F/C class debuted ('69 for NHRA) when the more experimental cars/classes started to coalesce. I've seen many well funded professional teams/race outfits using them in '70-'71, as seen here: https://www.nhra.com/news/2010/ramp-trucks-yeah-we-ve-got-ramp-trucks 1969 season: 1971 season: 1
