Gorgeous paint and foil work!

That was quite a novel approach to masking for the stripes. I've used plastic wrap for similar shoots, I will have to keep this in mind for future use.

Thanks Dave.  I really meant to paint the white first but that did'nt happen.  To much in a hurry to get some paint on the body I guess.  I was affraid all the tape on the blue would mess it up but it was fine.

Working on the suspension this morning.  I think I have the rear where I want it after cutting the axle tubes down a little but the front tire are hitting the body.  I'm sanding down the back of the hubs but not sure if I can get enough clearance.

Looking really good Bob! The interior colours look perfect. I have two comments on the foil. First, I think you did a great job, it looks fantastic! With the adhesion issue, I’m wondering if the wax is causing some of that? I know the foil these days doesn’t stick as good as it used to, but maybe the wax is compounding the problem? Just a thought. For me, I like to paint, foil, clear, then polish. Everyone has different ideas about that order though. You are doing beautiful work, can’t wait to see this one finished.

Cheers, Steve

Thanks Steve.  Polishing first doesn't seem to bother the adhesion.  The BMF has changed as others will confirm.  It's just not as good as it use to be.

Ditto what Bob said. I polish before foiling so as to not damage the foil. I wipe down the area with alchohol before foiling and this new cr*p foil still doesn't stick.

I definitely agree that the new stuff just doesn’t stick as well as the old. I was wrestling with some of the black foil last night, it’s terrible stuff… I also hope my comment didn’t sound critical in any way it was just a thought.

Well Steve, I think most of us on here echo your sentiment. And by the way, I tried some of that black foil a couple years ago (I still have almost a whole sheet) and yep it is terrible. If I remember, when I burnished it the black started coming off. Trash!!

I hate foil but it's still the best option in my opinion.  I don't find these chrome paint pens any better than the "chrome" paint Testers brought out back in the mid 80's

Thanks Ron.

Nice work there on the suspension and brake discs. I love stuff like this, cutting up parts and making them fit exactly the way you want them too, it's loads of fun.?

Thanks Gareth.

This is a bad time of the year for model building for me.  Trying to get all the yard stuff taken down and put up before old man winter hits.  I did get the mufflers and exhaust pipes put on along with the front suspension.

Nice. Which black paint are you using on the frame?

Its Rust-Oleum 2X Paint+Primer.  A lot of fellas frown on Rust-Oleum but I've found it lays down nice and smooth, especially the gray primer and you can spray pretty much anything over it.

Yea, that's what I use. Love the primers. But I've been having problems with all their blacks, the gloss, semi-gloss and flat. Seems to not spray smooth, leaving a rough looking finish.
