modeltuner06 Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Hi everyone my name's Nick and I just recently got back into model building, I was wondering if someone could explain the difference between enamel, laquor, acrylic? I'm working on a car in 1:24 scale.
randx0 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 sorry I didn't see this sooner . Lacquer for models is by far the best way to go,it dries fast and covers well. avoid the enamels as they are very slow to cure however that can be overcome by using automotive reducers, and acrylics are water based and have their pros and cons .when using lacquers designed for real cars be sure to use a good automotive primer to prevent crazing the plastic.the testors lacquers you shouldn't have any problems with.welcome aboard hope this helps. oh yeah the tamiya paint is pretty freakin good too.
