bitner Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) Howdy folks: Here is the first truck model I've built in months. I used the original 1970 issue of the AMT wrecker with the little window cab, and the sleeper from the original California Hauler. I stretched the frame so the sleeper would fit, and narrowed the nose 1/2". I made all the decals except the Peterbilt logos. Edited January 16, 2009 by bitner

Ben Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Very, very nice Bill!!!!!!!!! Whats the story on those period correct aluminum five hole wheels?
bitner Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 Thanks guys: This has been a project I have been wanting to do for some time. Ben those are the kit 10 holes with a little body putty and bright chrome bare metal foil alterations. Not exactly perfect but close enough. Cheers: Bill
scummy Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 G,day , love those early pete models , and you have done a real smick job on the conversion . All the others i've seen that have stretched the chassis sortof sage but yours is straight as i die .I brought one of these early pete towies on evilbay couple of months ago , they comin real hard to find now . Cheers
Old Albion Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Bill, Superb looking old Pete. I like the colour scheme it works well with the age of the truck and I like your hood. This would look great photographed outside in natural light. I bought the original 359 wrecker kit sometime ago and have been thinking about a possible build as a long hood 351 but without the sleeper. Best Wishes Dave Bates
SpreadAxle Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 You did a good job converting th ehood to a narrow nose. Nice job overall.
