M W Elky Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 This is mostly a out of the box mpc 1969 barracuda. It has the following modifications. amt blue streak slicks parts box wheels the engine is from the kit with the missing super stock hemi parts from my stash of mopar parts. The headers are made from solder and aluminum tubing paint is tamyia and decals are slixx there are a lot of different aftermarket decals available for this kit, and converting them into a super stocker is fairly easy to do. as always thanks for looking, and all the nice complements, Mike 3
oldr-n-drt Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 hemi was not run in ss/b in 1969....1968 had a hemi in nhra rules...yall can get 1968 correct front end pieces for it in resin....good looking super stocker... oldr-n-drt
bisc63 Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Sharp model, and sharp car for real! Not familiar with this car, but may need to pick up some of these decals; it's a real looker! Well done.

I remember {won't say the guy's name} a " B-A" straight black SS/BA ';65 Dodge...nasty hemi and alumiinum fenders back then. Later
oldr-n-drt Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 mad....talking about 1968 an 1969 baracuda only..............oldr-n-drt
David G. Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 That's amazing! I love it when a model can be tied to the real world in such a way, nicely done. David G.
olmadmodeler Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 Hi Mike hope you are well, looks great I bet the decals were fun.

olmadmodeler Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 I know sometimes those long decals can be a pain.

Most racers did this if their car wasn`t competitive in SS/A.
boss 302 mustang Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 (edited) He means that Hurst built the real hemi cudas in 1968.....there were no super stock hemi cudas built in 1969. I am doing the same thing though and building a '69 as the Sox & Martin car as it is close enough for the shelf. Edited June 3, 2022 by boss 302 mustang clarification
Dr Crapologist Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 Just lovely! I got a set of decals from a different mfg. and just started on this relic mold. I'd like to have the '68 grille n bumpers but with Holthaus n Perry's resin closed I guess I'll have to be content with what's in the kit. I'm using the Revell Dart Hemi and anything else someone would suggest. True story; Arlen Vanke and his crew worked on my vehicles back in the late seventies in Copley Ohio. Cheers, Doc

Cheers, Doc Ro , if you have the rest of the hemi dart kit that your engine came from you might want to use the chassis, inner fenders, and fire wall from it . It would definitely add realism. Oh, Arlen could really make a mopar run
Dr Crapologist Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Yeah, great idea or maybe Revell's Charger but I'm going to finish this in accordance with the new IPMS 'box stock' rules; no plumbing or wiring since it's a "vintage" kit. There's decals for one of Arlen's '67 Plymouths, if I finish the Barracuda, I can devote detailing to the modern Revell kit and not wind up with a bunch of leftover parts. Now let's see how long that takes me... Cheers, Doc

NHRA did frown on updating sheetmetal and body parts at that time. When Pro Stock debuted in 1970 you may have seen a couple of LO 23 or B0 29 cars dressed in '69 sheetmetal. You could still run a '68 car in SS/B or SS/BA in 1969
