I'd love to know how BlackBox gets these bodykits to fit so well. It's not easy trying to fit a digital model to the compound curves of a real-world model kit, and digital models aren't always dependably accurate to the 1:1 or shaped the same way the model kit is. Maybe they're 3D scanning the kit bodies somehow? Multiple iterations of test-printing and model revision??

 

Late to the party but 3D scanner is the answer, I have one similar to his, just the slightly better model, and thats what I will be using to make my own body kits. First will be a Pandem RX-7 FC

Hi Charles, no not yet. Suffered a "minor" set-back during one of my final test fitting phases... I managed to crack one of the rear over fenders. Had to do body work (as I had blended the fenders in), then while I was at it I did a complete repaint. Everything else is coming together, maybe by the end of the month it will be ready.

So cool I ordered my own Texas 3D customs wide body kit for my VW
