As I'm getting back into modeling again, I wanted to start small and easy. I built a couple planes (1/48 SPAD XIII and P-47) and was chomping at the bit to do some model cars again. Decided on a couple projects but needed to do some pre-work first.

Picked up this AMT Blueprinter Trailer on ebay from a guy who had 3 of them but this was the only one he listed as 'Complete'. Somebody had done a decent spray job on it years ago and then put it away. While stored it got a little beat up but not too bad, mainly the fenders.

Came with complete instructions and the original decals!

METAL AXLES OR DEATH! Isn't that the AMT Motto? Ha!

The Wheels/Tires were 'Meh', painted the slots but it just wasn't doing it for me.

Sprayed the wheels with Tamiya flat clear and they were close but still need something. So I installed the whitewall tires from the Chevy 3100 pickup I'm gonna build to pull it and Bango, I had it!

Painted the taillights with some Model Master Red/Yellow Metalics, not too bad!

More to come! Hope you enjoy this.

I did one of these a long time ago. I made some changes you may wish to consider in your build.

I added a spare tire, made a strap/chain box and used textured paint for the deck.

'63-'64 I would suspect would have steelies for rims. I do not believe there were too many racers that would spend the cash on mags for their trailer.

I thought of that as I picked the years for this project but the metal axles kinda necessitated that decision.

They could change though! It's not like they're glued on er nothin... heh!

It's a part of a long range project, maybe ending up with a diorama.

Ha, forgot to add pictures.

Polished (sanded) the fenders to see if I could get the paint marring out but ended up going through the paint so, seeing as how they were nicely sanded, I brush painted them with Testors Gloss black enamel... they came out alright.

Cool, I'll be following. The only car trailer I have to build is in this kit.

Actually, I think it's the same trailer.

Add some Dealership Sponsor Graphics to the Tow Vehicle to justify the Fancy Rims on the trailer. A dealer (especially in SoCal) could justify the expense of the rims.

Rig looks very Nice!

Thanx Pat. I did do a couple little things while waiting for parts, namely a winch.

I thought the tailights looked a little fragile so I added a gusset to each and made a bottom to the screw jack.
