ns4ever Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 HI all been away from modellin scene for a few months, but after months of looking at an unfinished pete race truck, Spielbergs classic "Duel" inspierd me to do some surgery on her. Apologies to all you Pete specialists out there, I know she's only a disguised 359, but it was mainly about trying to do the paint effects properly. She still needs a few things to finish her up, and perhaps a red plymouth sedan to go with her. regards andy-b- http://www.flickr.com/photos/24420024@N04/...720382/sizes/l/
mackinac359 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Andy How about Younger Brother of Duel? I like your weathering. Tim
ns4ever Posted January 23, 2009 Author Posted January 23, 2009 maybe a remake...or duel 2?!!! finally had a nice (ish) day to take some proper pics cheers andy http://www.flickr.com/photos/24420024@N04/?saved=1
Old Albion Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Andy, Nice Work! The weathering looks good. Its interesting to note that when they made the film Duel the truck(s) had to go into make up before they started filming. The dirt, wear and tear of many hard years on the road was not enough. They had to put the trucks through "Make Up" to get the right effect. Best Wishes Dave
dryvr12 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Howd you do it? the weathering, and what did you do different to the 359 (im not really into trucks but im getting there)
ns4ever Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 hi sent u a pm bout the weathering. Basically just narrowed the hood and widened the wings on the 359, didn't bother too much about the cab or the chassis. Just wanted to see if a 359 could be disguised enough. good luck with ur build andy
Andy10_4 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 (edited) Hi! Unfortunately your truck wrong. Look here: http://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thsca..._09-10_sep-okt/ or http://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thsca..._09__september/ At you Peterbilt 359, and should be 281, well and the tanker trailer certainly another As it was necessary to search for a variant "California Hauler", there older cab. Now my son asks, that I have constructed the truck from "Duel", here I and have reflected. My truck models can be found here http://www.scaletrucks.ru/photo/mack_coe/ (and others under the same name) and here http://www.andy104.sk6.ru/index.php/morfeoshow/view/6 Edited February 6, 2009 by Andy10_4
Old Albion Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Just had to post this video on Youtube. It was made by the last owner of the only surviving Pete used in the movie Duel. The truck is now owned by Dan Bruno. Interestingly he also owns the last remaining R700 MACK used in the movie Convoy. Hope you enjoy. Best Wishes Dave PS does anyone know what the original colours for the Duel Pete and trailer are? To me it looks like a brown or metallic bronze with purple fenders???

Small window pete kits go for quite a lot in the uk, sadly I don't have that sort of money or the skill necessary to convert a big window cab.

Wish I lived next door to Dan bruno. and I think the c olour is just plain brown, judging from the roof shots on the dvd, but the drivers side fender has a purpley red look about it. Cant say I noticed the other fender though??
