1958 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible.

The workmanship on this model is really great. Excellent colors. For those of you who haven't built one yet and are somewhat a rivet counter, The Bonneville didn't have 5 hashmarks, only 4. It also said Bonneville front and rear instead of Pontiac. This in no way detracts from this beauty.

Yes, I have taken part in some discussions about the discrepancies with the AMT kit, and the consensus seems to be the the model was being developed at the same time as the 1:1, and apparently the early drafts of the real vehicle may have had the same discrepancies, but were changed late in the process.

Too late for the kit’s molds to be changed.

I have no proof that this is the case, but it makes sense, as the models were developed at this time using actual factory drawings and specs, and were introduced around the same time, and changed every year, just like the real deal.

I think you are right. One of the prototype '59 Galaxies had a huge GALAXIE script on the rear fender, which found it's way onto the model. The production script was about 1/2 to 2/3rd the size of the prototype.

Same thing probably happened with the MPC '71 Impala convertible.

The image in the brochure and the kit both have squared corners at the top of the windshield instead of the rounded corners like the real thing has.
