Dr. Cranky Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 (edited) Thanks, J. We are trying to have fun in 2009, that's all we're trying to do! Back in 2000 when the world didn't come to an end, I thought every year after is pure gravy!!! Edited January 27, 2009 by DamnCranky
sak Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I am aghast !! Never seen anything like it. Unbeleivable. But damcranky, if you don't mind me asking. What is the purpose of the first black basecoat?
Dr. Cranky Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 That's a great question. The purpose for it in my mind is to start with a black canvas so that I can erase it as I spray the silver . . . it's an old habit of mine, I guess, though yes, if you want to skip it, it certainly can be skipped . . . . I guess you can also primer the body in black Plastikote and start that way . . .
ajulia Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Hello there friend! That is an awesome paint scheme man!! You certainly have a style all of yer own.. keep on wit the keepin on!! peace ajulia
Dr. Cranky Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 Thank you! And I hope you guys keep checking back for some progress reports . . . like this one: Well, it took me a few hours to get it done, but I got it done. The question is, how unlucky are you gonna be if you don't ride shotgun with Mr. D? I'm just tickled abou this one! By the way, the head zapper (O Lordy!!!) moves up and down to fit all sizes!!! Once I get it all painted, I can put in the straps for that ultra realistic look, oh, and the little sign on the backrest: SPARKY
Dr. Cranky Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 Okay, the Dupont clear is on there, three coats . . . and if it continues to look this good, then I might not buff it . . . I hate buffing paintjobs!!!
ajulia Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Senor Cranky' that back seat is just outta this world.. I have to wonder now exactly what goes on in that cranium of yers' YIKES!!! LOL peace ajulia
Dr. Cranky Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 LOL!!! There's nothing but straws in there, buddy!!! Straws and rust and gunk!!!

I really wish I had this kind of imagination and creativity. This is just so "way outta the box" amazing. What a wonderfully "TWISTED" way of "BLOWIN OUR MINDS" with your skills and "SIDEWAY'S" thinking. I'd love to see you and ######'N"black (CB) get together on a build, and let your idea's run crazy. Non of us can help but watch this build - THIS NEEDS TO BE IN A MAGAZINE!!!! - dave Edited January 27, 2009 by Treehugger Dave
Dr. Cranky Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 Thanks, Dave . . . those are some fueling words!!! Wait until you see what happened to the last dude who sat back there . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 It took me a while to get the pose as good as I could given the nature of this wonderful skeleton (Thanks Jairus!!!), but I still don't know if I am going to use it . . . I like the idea of a pile of smouldering ashes on the seat . . . more menacing that way, plus it will match what is in the trunk. Trunk!!! Alas, but I get ahead of myself! This dude is photogenic, all right, and if I'm not mistakened, he's even turning to strike a pose for the camera!!!

T'anks fer the compliment, but, I don't know 'bout that.........whatta you think Doc? As fer Dave sayin' "THIS NEEDS TO BE IN A MAGAZINE!!!!" ---methinks maybe a book with all yer builds in it would be sooooooo fine
CB Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Looks to me like you got the perfect pose here, Virg, with his head tiltin' down a bit anyhow. I just can't get the idea of a 'showerhead' outa my noggin lookin at that green thing. Wonder if'n it had some leather chinstrap hangin' off'n it? Just had me another thought ----MARDIS GRAS!!! perfect parade car! most excellent work Virg
Dr. Cranky Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 Thanks, maties . . .ha! I am still laughing about the shower head thing!!!
Dr. Cranky Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 Thanks for the input, buddy. I think I am going to go ahead and use the skeleton, but I am going to figure out a way of making him stand out a little more . . . more than just a cigarette dangling from his mouth and a brewsky in his hand . . . I love the ashes idea, and since I smoke cigars I always have a great supply the real stuff!
