At this point, I have perused the first 32 years of HRM, and touched on what I personally found most interesting and relevant to our hobby. As usual, I encourage anyone that finds interesting items in HRM to feel free to post them here. Between all of us, hopefully a good library will develop online that is searchable and easier to access than the unindexed 72 years of issues online.

A few "hot rod of the future" concepts have popped up in HRM and other magazines over the years, and here's one for a competition roadster from August of '52.  As far as I know, nobody ever got around to making a DOHC head for a GMC 6, though other GM engines would prove to be very popular in the coming years.  Fiberglass T bodies did become a thing in the next decade, as did the rise in popularity of alloy wheels among the hot rod set.

I love the look of that engine - kind of like a 6 cylinder version of the ones in the Bugatti Model 57's. I wonder if anyone makes 3d version of it?

It's purely a conceptual design, so you're probably out of luck.  It is based on a GMC engine, so maybe a Chevy 6 with some scratchbuilt mods?

Something about this channeled roadster from the Dec '52 issue that I just really like.

Maybe something to think ab out if you're looking to do something a little different with Revell's Deuce roadster?

I agree. There is a clean and laid back vibe about it. The windshield and radiator all laid back, hubcaps are very simple - just a cool ride. It also has something else I noticed in quite a few photos back then - the fabricated bumperette (nerf bar I think they call it?) up front. Interestingly, I don't believe I have seen that feature on any scale models representing that era. I'm thinking of incorporating it into a few of my builds.

Very cool creation by someone named Terry Brown, called the "Gold Rush Express". I'm not even sure what year or body design to call it, but awesome! HRM October 1980

John Buttera '23 - '27 T-bucket. (I thought the 20's and 30's Fords would've gone the way of the dinosaur by 1980, but here I am learning that was far from the case). HRM October 1980

A pair of heavy metal Camaros - '67 and '73. I love the stances; both different, but both tough!

In an article about John Buttera from HRM May 1981 was this photo. I've never made a diorama, but this one looks like a good representation of one to me.

No conversation about the early 80's would be complete without the '82 Camaro and Firebird. Two issues covered them with lots of photos and background.
