Front struts fitted and springs fabricated, calipers have already been fitting and clearances checked , strits are ready for detailing painting and installation, upper rad hose roughed in, this one is white as I have more of this material than the black, black hose and clamps will be used for final assembly.911520844_IMG_0225(1).JPG.ae08ef147ea0269dc1b6c935f3ef02fc.JPG

First color on chassis, needed the gloss finish to be able to remove rough spots and other issues. Clean up some joints, add some weld beads and a few brackets then  the final color coat before adding the Carbon Fiber decals on the tubs and floor pans.1207677926_IMG_0245(1).JPG.f7e3b77d5aaafecc544b2c4c1481992c.JPG1620721302_IMG_0244(1).JPG.aeb0d624f7420931a19cb2e9c474bbb8.JPG1236128212_IMG_0246(1).JPG.9ba34c7ad06c20f80b96783d13af4b6f.JPG

HI Ian.  Just caught up on all the progress you have made the last couple months. Absolutely stunning.  1/12 scale is not very forgiving if the details aren't right.  Your details are absolutely spot on. Everything fits.  I also like the idea of gold annodized Morroso valve covers, along with about everything else you are doing.

Thanks for the kind words Ron, I've been trying to get the details as close as possible but without a mill or a decent lathe it's a challange.  The next round of details will be a step up as my 3D resin printer comes on line.  The Moroso covers and dry sump pan are part of the back story on the model ( an older racecar that has stayed with an average racer who has been updating the car as funds allow).  Also as I said earlier in this build Morosso cover just scream drag race motor to me.  I had a set on my 65 Impala SBC that I kept for my 68 Acadian SS 350 4 gear,  and then transfered to my 73 Vega wagon.  I then moved to BBC power so the covers went with the Vega and as far as I know they are still going down the track on weekends.

This took some time for me to read up all of the WIP till now and I must say it is fascinating!

I like the methodical approach on detailing parts and just overall procedures to get things implemented.

Very entertaining for sure!

Thank you Steve, this model kind of took on a life of its own  and became a bigger project than was first intended but that being said it's been a fun experience and has allowed me to catch up on the current state of development of these cars. It has been a real eye opener for sure and with the addition of a 3D resin printer to the shop the learning will continue.

That's a story I am very familiar with! At that scale, though, it almost has to, because it would be easier to talk yourself into doing it, since "I would put that on a 1/25 scale model, so..." Seriously, though, I am glad it did! It's much more interesting to watch, this way.

Continuing the detailing in the trunk area, battery permanently mounted, grounding post, cut-off switch and external charging plug mounted in the rear quarter panel. Working as well on the front doors. Inner door panels will be Carbon fiber with bead rolls molded in to reflect back on the older styling. The bead rolls follow the design of the original 69 Camaro door panels.

That's a nice touch! The trunk looks excellent.

It took all morning to get it right but the Valve covers are now the correct gold, it's a hard color to replicate and a similar finish, the first photo is the closest but it's a much richer gold in person, very hard to photograph.1583302056_IMG_00431.JPG.52dd5c04f78bbf4bf4e1a19d85986419.JPGIMG_0042.JPG.0a97054bce594731607b5f711cb413ca.JPG929555417_IMG_00441.JPG.edd4f8791e26dfce63330289e5feddf0.JPG

Nice! That's always been a tricky thing to replicate. I don't recall ever coming close. What did you rub the powder over?

Actually  I mixed it with the clear and sprayed it many very light coats,  If I still had my old compressor and used higher pressure it would have gone much better. My rechargeable airbrush just does not have the capacity for anything but thin paint and that's OK for most jobs.

Well, that looks better than anything else i have seen. Nice job!

Bolted the four link into the chassis last night, and to my complete amazement the ride height, pinion angle and wheelie bar height were all exactly where they are supposed to be without adjusting any of the bars.  Some days you just get lucky.
