Uhm.............Dan?

While of course, I am honored to be invited to this, I must say I am considerably astonished, flabbergasted, awestruck, whopperjawed, and just plain damned scared that I am even considered worthy of being invited to enter such an event!

Oh well, I guess if I must, I must, huh? Now, where is that stupid little Hupmobile project hiding???????

Here's the deal. Maybe you've not built in the 'super-realistic' vein before, maybe ultra-detailed or technologically-advanced has not been your thing in the past. But, no one knows what you are capable of accomplishing until you are inspired to stretch your efforts beyond anything you've tried before.

That's what The Masters Challenge is intended to be all about. Inspiring, motivating the very best builders in the world to reach further and further outside the box; their box; the hobby's box.

You've been invited, as have the other invitees, because you are known and recognized to be a noted, exceptional builder ... in your own style, whatever it may be ...

We don't know which genre of building will produce the next quantuum leap in the hobby. But we intend to try to make it happen.

We think the next evolution or revolution in modeling can come from anywhere, anyone. We think any of The Challenge's invitees has the potential of setting the pace of the future.

And, perhaps it will be some 'undiscovered' uber-modeler that has not yet attained widespread attention.

We made a diligent effort to identify as many appropriate invitees as possible, but we knew we could not possibly nail it 100%. We're human. That's why we have asked anyone and everyone to let us know about any builder that should be invited.

Who knows? The builder who generates the sparks of the future's fires can be anyone, whether a well-known competitor building within his/her realm, a well-known competitor building outside his/her current comfort-zone, or a regionally-known builder who gets the fever from The Challenge to set the hobby on its ear!

It's really not unlike IROC or the Kentucky Derby; many, many competitors engage in common events, but few rise to the level of competition at IROC or the Derby. Those that are invited to compete at that level have the potential ... and the challenge ... of setting the tone for their genre. Like IROC, like the Derby, The Masters Challenge is intended to be an exceptional event where exceptional competitors have the opportunity to suggest or define the future.

Hopefully, this will provide some insight into what we were thinking as we culled multiple sources for the invitee list.

Geez! You mean I can enter, build something, and prove conclusively that "Suddenly, it's 1960"? Hmmmmm, now lemme see....that gives me an idea, and I'm not gonna tell you what it is!

Wow, I see some important names missing

Wow, Chad. Why don't you nominate them?

As I have previously stated:

We made a diligent effort to identify as many appropriate invitees as possible, but we knew we could not possibly nail it 100%. We're human. That's why we have asked anyone and everyone to let us know about any builder that should be invited.

If we've missed someone you feel should have been invited, by all means nominate them. Your post does nothing constructive; it does not tell us what important names are missing.

So, nominate them. Thanks!

Dan, Im in no way trying to be a smart alec or anything.

I think Harold Bradford is a definate for the list. If your not framiliar with him or his company (Historic Racing Miniatures), he is a phenominal modeler of historic race cars, specificaly european cars from the 60's. He works in both 1/24-1/25th scale, as well as 1/43 scale. Some of the detail on his 43rd scale models will boggle your mind. I havnt seen any of his completed 43rd scale work for a few years, as he has been working on a lot of scratchbuilt 1/25th scale historic race cars. He has been well respected in the Maryland area for many years, but is very modest and reserved, and may not be as well known as he should be around the country.

Kelvin Brown was always a big influence when I was building "street rod", modern style hot rods when I was a bit younger. He has been a highly respected builder in Maryland for 15+ years now, but is seldom seen nowadays. He has been working on a 32 ford for over 10 years now. Last I heard a few months ago from a friend of his, he is coming very close to finishing it. He is a talented craftsmen, and a perfectionist, hence the 10+ year build! When the model emerges, it WILL be a sight to see.

Jeff Sauber has been an up and coming pro street modeler in the field lately, especialy on the east coast. He has been sweeping up peoples choice awards like a tornado on the east coast for the past few years. He equaly deserves a chance at the competition.

Chad, I didn't mean to imply you were being a smart aleck. Your nominations are good, thoughtful, and well taken. We appreciate being made aware of talented builders who deserve consideration for invitation to The Masters Challenge.

If you, or anyone else, have addresses for these nominees, it would be very helpful. Please email contact information to:

Thanks!!
