Hello fellow builders,

Well, I finally finished this one. The kit has several short comings, I addressed the ones that bothered me most, but didn’t get too carried away. The intent was make some improvements, and end up with a decent shelf model.
I used the axles, leaf springs, and some other parts from the deserter kit. The tires are Modelhaus, wheels are salvaged from the parts stash, some kit shocks as well as some from the stash.

The engine has a resin whipple blower, and some detail was added in the engine compartment.
The interior has parts box seats, the console from the deserter kit, wood grain decals, parts box steering wheel, pins were used for turn signal, and tilt wheel levers, added a nav screen.
I added side steps from the deserter, grab handles from the stash, made a nav antenna, the grill was opened from behind. Paint is GM Hugger orange with Mr Colour clear.

I’m happy with the overall look, but it’s definitely not my best work. It was built over a VERY EXTENDED period of time, so I never really found my groove. All that said, I haven’t built a 4X4 for about 40 years, so I really wanted to do something different. The next build will be back to my usual low!!

Thanks for having a look, and thanks again to those that followed along with the WIP and took the time to comment. As usual, all comments welcome.

A fine looking "Shelf Model" I must say. Clean and stylish with all the right stuff. Did you mold the top on or is it made that way?

Beautiful looking rig, I like how you molded the top to the body. Paint looks to pretty to go into the woods.

Turned out very well IMHO illustrating your exceptionally clean building style. Looks great parked on your diorama.

Hi Phil!  I appreciate he kind words. It fell a bit short of my expectations, but… it actually looks quite good in the display case. I was going to pose it driving over the rock wall,  but as if this thing is going four wheeling…

Thanks Rooster! The top on these kits are always warped quite badly, at least the 5 I have are. I wanted the top on this one, so I decided to mold it on. This also gave it more of an SUV look, or at least I think it does.

Excellent build.

Thanks Jim!  By the way Jim, every time I’m polishing a model I think of you, hoping that I’ll get a “shiny” from you!! I do literally think of that. Obviously this one did not pass the Jim shiny test… unfortunately the next one won’t either as it will have a matte finish. Well, I just need to keep practicing lol… Seriously though, thanks for having a look.

Thank you David. Ya, I think the top looks good that way. No way is the owner taking this in the bush, or even on a gravel road! Poser truck!

Thank you all for having a look and taking the time to comment, much appreciated.?

Good looking truck and it is SHINY ???.

Haha! You know I was just messing with you Jim, but thanks for the “shiny”? I wasn’t kidding about having that in my head while polishing tho. I always want to pass Jim’s shiny test!?

Thanks Mario, good to hear from you. You always impress me with both build quality and quantity. I don’t know how some of you do it.

Thanks Keith!!  I also have the Jimmy version in the stash. That one is going to get a very low pro touring type of treatment. That build is probably a couple of years away tho. I appreciate you checking in sir.

One of the nicest jimmy's I'v seen. Great color choice too. Mounting the top the way you did really makes such a big difference in overall appearance. Really nice work!

Thanks Paul, I’m a big fan of Hugger orange on these. I think the molded on top looks good too, just a subtle but effective change in appearance. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

That did turn out nice Steve, I sure like the engine upgrade. A little bit too much shiny on a truck for my liking…but that’s just me.?

Thanks Greg. You were definitely right about the big block making everything a tight fit, still worth the extra time. It’s definitely a poser truck, probably won’t even get driven in the rain! ?
