Brudda Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Going to start a motorcycle. Washed the resin parts with dawn dish soap. Sorted the white metal parts. Here we go. 1
Dragline Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 A serious bit of business is this. I finally got my panhead a few months back and upon opening it I nearly fell out. Yes, it was a very large sum of money. But these are without doubt the finest kits of any subject ever made. I will be following your build as I pluck up the nerve to possibly start mine this spring. I suspect it will take the better part of the year if not more to see it finished. I have no doubt this will also take quite a while. 1
Mike C Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 They make amazing & expensive kits. One of the member of my club has built some of their kits. In fact he showed us the 1/12 Shelby Cobra kit (finished) yesterday. An awesome build. 1
Brudda Posted January 9, 2023 Author Posted January 9, 2023 Yes Dragline and Mike C . They are expensive and can drive you nuts but the results are amazing. Here are a few I have finished and two I have not. But working on them as well. The two Porsche engines are going in a 935/78 and the monster 12 is going in the 917/30. Finished the 1/24 Ferrari 166, a 1/12 cobra 427 and the Ferrari P4. 1
Dragline Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 As if to make my point for me. There is no substitute for what you get with MFH. Beautiful stuff brother.

Brudda Posted January 10, 2023 Author Posted January 10, 2023 A polisher you will need for white metal. You also need a sand blaster. I use a badger air brush sand blaster. Works great.
Brudda Posted January 10, 2023 Author Posted January 10, 2023 Badger sand blaster, low temp solder, flux, solder torch tool. Are also the things you need. Plus a bunch of very small drill bits. You will use a lot of them with a mfh kit. The results on the cobra hood are really good.

I inventoried it when I received it as MFH instructs you to do. If something is missing when you get you kit while it is in production your parts are available, whereas if it is out of production you may be waiting a while for replacements. Here is an image from the web. Built in white.
Ulf Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 (edited) Oh, it looks fantastic.I hope you'll come back with pictures during the build. Edited January 11, 2023 by Ulf wrong subject
Dragline Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 WWhatyear is that pan? It looks like a 61. I have an 85 shovel. Shovel top, Evo bottom. Last of the shovels. How did we get talking H-D?

Brudda Posted January 15, 2023 Author Posted January 15, 2023 Prepping the wheels. Their are over 20 parts per wheel. Not including the tires or brakes. Washed the resin parts, sanded and washed again. Polished the white metal parts to get rid of the mold release on the parts. Drilled the white metal wheels. Over 40 holes. Prime with acid etch primer then if they look good, paint time. More work on these wheels than my whole 1/25 camaro. But worth it.
Brudda Posted January 15, 2023 Author Posted January 15, 2023 I solder white metal parts. Stronger than glue. But when I need glue I use jb weld ca with an activator.
David G. Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 I've always wanted to try my hand at a kit like this. It looks like there is a significant investment, not only in the kit itself and the time to complete it but also ancillary tools & materials as well as prep. Given all that, I'm most likely better to follow along with your build. At least for now. David G.
Brudda Posted January 24, 2023 Author Posted January 24, 2023 Here is a finished rear wheel with the tire mounted. This took hours. Front next.
cobraman Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 That finished wheel looks great ! At least there is only two !

There are 30 parts on each wheel. Does not look like it but it’s a lot of parts for one wheel. Oh ,,,,31 parts, I forgot the tire stem / valve.
