diymirage Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Picked up this little zvezda (what is that, russian?) kit the other day It's a BMW with side cart I'd never heard of this brand before but it looked like a cool kit, and if it is new, it may be good Turns out there is some nice detail on the kit, but also quite a bit of flashing This was especially hard to deal with on the cooling fins on the cylinders So far, I've pretty much got the engine put together 1 Quote
diymirage Posted January 20, 2023 Author Posted January 20, 2023 well, i decided on a lighter color, vallejo blue grey pale 70-905in part because i wanted something lighter, and mostly, because i have that paint and it allows me to paint parts in stages and not have to worry about mixing it right each timebecause of the way the engine sits in the frame, i decided to brush that(this is just a first coat, but at least the engine is home)so far, i am not impressed with the quality of this kitthe amount of flash is quite large, and i have broken two parts allreadyin my opinion, because of the way they were cast on the spruceso many parts have the little nubs on them, i would really have liked to have seen a few of those nubs on these little pieces to protect them(The fenders and front fork are just mocked up for a visual...kinda looks like a orange county chopper like this...don't worry, we'll fix that) Quote

diymirage Posted January 22, 2023 Author Posted January 22, 2023 it is 1/35 scale it is a pretty cool kit, what really sold me on it was the crew you can build it with two soldiers in full battle array, or one slightly more laid back soldier, bringing home the bacon the odd thing is that one of the drivers has his hands molded to the handle bars, and one does not so im going to have to leave the handle bars loose if i want to be able to switch out between the two Quote
diymirage Posted February 1, 2023 Author Posted February 1, 2023 Got a little bit of work done to her (crazy how bad my paint looks in the pictures) Most of this is mocked up Quote
David G. Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Nice progress. 18 hours ago, diymirage said: Got a little bit of work done to her (crazy how bad my paint looks in the pictures) That's why many of us use photos to "proof" our work. I can't tell you how many times I've caught painting and building errors while reviewing my build progress photos. I think our brains process the visual information from images differently than they do from objects. Whatever the reason, photos can be a powerful tool in that regard. David G. 1 Quote
diymirage Posted August 17, 2023 Author Posted August 17, 2023 I need to put a second coat of paint on the driver, and I think I will add the machine gun to the sidecar 1 Quote
