Model Factory Hiro 1963 Ferrari 250 Lusso

Wasn’t going to start this until my Honda motorcycle was finished but I have waited a long time for this model, could not resist and started it. As a model factory hiro kit goes ,it needs work. The hood was not cast straight so I have to putty it. And the grill opening does not fit. So I will have to putty the gaps. The usual mfh stuff. The overall shape of the car is right on . This car,  in my humble opinion, is one of the most beautiful pininfarina GT cars. Here goes……

Great looking car. You would think that how much they cost that the parts would fit. But I guess that's just modeling.

Hello Ray, This is going to be a challenge. First it’s an early mfh kit that does not fit well. Since I bought it used, the last of the instructions are missing. Going to wing it the best I can. But it’s the car I wanted for a long time. A build of love.

It certainly is one of the most beautiful Ferraris or any car, of that era, still looks gorgeous today, and I'm sure the Roma is the new version of THAT car, 250 GT Lusso, love it!

Yes Dino 246. I agree, but that 246 Dino is also stunning!!!! I have three Ferraris that I love for styling, the P4, the 246 Dino and the 250 Lusso.

Aw Brudda, you have great taste! Can't forget the 288GTO though as well.

I sold my Dino some time ago, have a 308GTB now, still love it too, and it's NOT red!

Ciao!

Cool, I’ll look when I get home. Thank you ! This will be great! I believe I have up to 22 I think. It’s the all the stuff that goes on the body. I have nothing after that.

Thank you Gerry. You know this is a very rare kit. I wish they made a 1/12. But am very happy with a 1/24. You have an investment here. My friend Mark can afford to buy in bulk, He sits on them for a few years and people all over the world contact him and he resells and makes a few bucks. But he always keeps the stuff he likes. He’s not in it for the money, it just works out that way. Like several years ago he bought a bunch of wing nut wings kits and traded Mr Hiro from model factory hiro, a bunch of hiro kits. Mark made a killing. He had over 250 mfh kits. Sold a few to me and gave some away to me also. He also gave Chris Smith a mfh kit also. Great guy and very generous with kits. Matter of fact Mr Hiro contacts Mark to locate old kits for him. Mark has a bunch of old pocher kits that Mr Hiro wanted so the trade was made again and Mark ended up with more Hiro kits. He gave Chris Smith and myself a 935/78  1/12 Porsche kit each. He also gave me a Ferrari p4 to get me hooked. If you want detail, these kits are the ones to get. Although they are a extremely hard build , it’s worth it. Love them. Thanks for the complete instructions.

I have a few MFH kits besides the 250 (a BIG favorite of mine).  I had a few more but sold them off before moving back to Washington State.  Made a few dollars, but just realized I have too many to build and not enough time.

Oh wow. Just wow!   I’ll be watching to see this come together with interest. I think the 250 Lusso is simply the most beautiful car ever. I first saw it in the film Tower Heist. Since then I got a kit from AirTrax, but then also found this MFH kit. The most expensive 1/24 kit I ever bought. I’m too afraid to start it as I don’t think my skills are up to it yet. I’m glad to be watching someone else go first so I can take notes.
mid your previous builds are anything to go by, this’ll be a knock out.

I have seen some spectacular models at shows built from MFH kits and will follow this thread with interest. The Lusso is a lovely looking car.

Expense wise they are a bit out of my league unfortunately as I would have really liked their Type 35B Bugatti kit. Someone must be smiling down on me with the advent of the Italeri kit being released this year.
