Can-Con Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 Just not feeling the other projects I have on the go right now so I'm going back to this one. started it about 13 years ago. The HOK candy root beer paint should be cured enough to polish out. LOL. I'm using the engine and underhood section from an AMT '57 Chrysler 300 custom kit. I think I'll use the F.I> intake and finned valley cover from the AMT '53 Ford pickup kit on it though instead of the dual quads. The roof and section behind the headlights are now painted white and it's ready for polishing and foil. The wheels shown in these pics may not be the final choice, more pics soon. 6
KWT Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 Nice color combo... make sure you smell it to make sure it's gassed out
gks1964 Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 Looking good!! I finished this one last year. 5
espo Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 The style of two tone paint work was one of the factory options of the time. Not the colors so much, but I do like your color choices.

Anyway, here's a couple more pics with the wheels I'm using and the off-white on the roof and fenders. I also did the engine and engine bay with the HOK candy root beer. This thing is gonna take days to foil. ? Edited February 25, 2023 by Can-Con 6

I was referencing your wagon build. I was in high school when these first came out. There was more than a few running around town with the same style of two tone paint treatment, most were done this way on the top of the line models and the rest would just have the roof painted a contrasting color if it had a two tone treatment at all. I like that shade of gold or bronze, whatever you want to call the color. 1
stavanzer Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 My Grandparents actually had one of these when I was a boy. I've gotten one copy of the kit, saved, but I have no clue what colour it was. Someday I'll build one. David, I really like the colours you chose. The wheels would not be my choice, as the "Giant Wagon Wheel" fad seems destined to never go away after 20 years, but your model looks excellent.

For me, foil is one of my least favourite tasks, but also one of the most rewarding. Great looking wheels, and the windshield tint is a nice touch. Cheers, Steve
Can-Con Posted October 14, 2024 Author Posted October 14, 2024 Got it foiled over the weekend. Good thing it's a long weekend.? All the trim is BMF on this one, including the door handles. Still have to do the black around the windows and brush some silver on the PLYMOUTH script on the tail gate. 11
DJMar Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 Wow, that looks sharper than a two headed tack! ?? 1 1
espo Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Like the wheels and stance. I had forgotten how good the colors on this looked. 1
Moparman18064 Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Your color choice was perfect in my opinion. The root beer dazzles, but at the same time, does not make the huge fins stand out like other colors. Great foil work as well. 1
Zippi Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 That's a good looking Plymouth Wagon there Steve. Love the color combo. 1
mrm Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Daaaamn… your model looks really, really nice. ‘Cause the real car is just fugly. 1
Can-Con Posted November 5, 2024 Author Posted November 5, 2024 (edited) so, here's what I've been able to get done since last time,,, Trimmed the floor sections out of the shallow interior bucket to get some depth there. Also trimmed off some from the chassis plate and will add it back in with a tranny hump that was missing from the interior. Did the base painting on the interior. It was so long since I painted the cream color that I forgot I did it and thought it was the bare plastic color. ? Did the seat inserts by dabbing on some slightly thinned Testors rust for a patterned cloth kinda look. The floor sections will be flocked in a similar shade. The dash was done in rust also with the upper part of the bucket. Dosen't show very well but I did the white accents on the door panels. Went around the windows with some black semi-gloss and installed the glass. Made simple motor mounts and got the engine set where I want it . I have an extra long weekend coming up and plan to get some chassis work done as well as maybe finish up the interior. Edited November 5, 2024 by Can-Con 4
slusher Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Seat look really nice, I’m sure you have to work on the door panels, looking forward too seeing what you do next… 1
David G. Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Everything looks great so far. I'm interested to see how you fill in the floors. David G. 1
Mopar - D Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 SSteve awesome build on your 60 Fury wagon. Thanks for sharing your work I have one of these in my stash and now I’m going to have to buy another 57 Chrysler 300 lol I like adding the engine bay details on the JoHan kits. 1
