Just realized something!

The reissue of the Chevy Racer's Wedge is boxed as a 72 but the original I have is boxed as a 71. Were any of the originals boxed as a 71 or did they change it with the reissue? My bumpers and the chrome tree are stamped with 71 too.

They changed it with the reissue, presumably because the AMT pickups have been issued as ‘72s since the 90s.

Ok. That's what I figured. Makes sense to me. I just never noticed there was a difference in the years.

The minor alterations have a by-product of making it tougher for some less-than-reputable sellers to pass the reissues off as originals.  I can't say that the changes are ever done with that in mind, though.
