feedback on DIY LED to 1/18 police

hello,

i was recommended to this site for information on modding die cast vehicles with led flashing lights.. i am sorry if this is "another one" of those type threads, as i have used the search function, but came up insufficient to my questions...

i am curious as to where to find the supplies, what are the typical costs, what is the time frame for a beginner to intermediate hobbyist and also , some links to sites that sell die cast vehicles pre-modified...

i am doing this for my son, but am interested in perhaps doing some for myself...He loves emergency vehicles and i would like to transfer that theme over to non emergency vehicles..ie, a Ferrari die cast modified with a flashing light bar

the scale i would be working with would be 1/24 and 1/18

I didn't pick up any info, but a few vendors at a huge model railroad swap I went to a couple weeks ago had them on display/for sale.....maybe a good place to start looking is in Model Railroader magazine?

A quick Google search for 'model car led' yielded this: Ebay item # 250374608884, seller i.d. 'coffeecoffee101.' Looks like about $34 shipped for a pre-fabbed/pre-engineered kit.
