James2 Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 (edited) Not a traditional WIP post, more of a what’s on my bench today thread. This is the Revell kit and I picked it up as a glue bomb at a swap meet a few year ago. Stripped most of the chrome, reshaped the tail end and added 58 Corvette taillights. The front is restyled with a Parts Pack grill, reversed hood and minor body mods. I lowered it as far as possible without cutting the frame up and dropped a fuel injected 409 between the front wheels with a custom cover for looks. The interior is fully custom. I’m not settled on colors yet, but it will be fun. Edited May 3, 2023 by James2 11
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Real nice. The Kustom Kar vibe you have going with the front end really works, as does mounting the taillights vertically. Big smile-maker. 2
Dirty Gringo Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 OH I am liking where you are going with this one looking forward to more progress.
rickcaps55 Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Thats really awesome great body work watching this to the end.!!
Andy Oldenburg Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Your turning the gluebomb into something classy! I like where this is going.
bisc63 Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 Nice clean design on a body not often customized. Very nice work so far. 1
James2 Posted May 18, 2024 Author Posted May 18, 2024 (edited) I need to get busy on this custom. I was stuck on paint color/scheme, but I think I may have decided. Most of the fab work is complete, now prep, prep, prep... I am still looking for glass if any are holding let me know. Edited May 18, 2024 by James2
Kenmojr Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Looks cool and very interesting. I have this kit to build. Apparently my version suffers from the front bumper issue the earlier releases of this Revell 56 Chevy is known for. The later release of the Revell 56 Del Ray does not have the front bumper issue.

Some of the bumper issues can be minimized by reshaping the body panel between the bumper and the lower body. You'll also need to trim the back edges of the bumper wraparound a little. The body panel also mates too the radiator support and that is the area you're going to be trimming. 1
LennyB Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Nice clean looking custom, I’ll be watching to see how it turns out.
Tim W. SoCal Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 Lookin' GOOD! Following your build and looking forward to more WIP posts. Can't wait to see it completed...
dino246gt Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 I'm lovin' this custom, very cool and nicely integrated DeSoto bumper, I love it! Rear design is very smooth also. It's not easy making a radical custom look good, you've done it though, nice!
James2 Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 Thank you for the comments. The body is Tamiya TS59 Pearl Light Red with a bit of MCW white frosting for a slight fade from the rocker. Nothing too radical on the paint. The interior will be a mix of pink and white, I think. 1
