Privateer Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Can someone tell me about the Harley kits made by Imai? I am curious about the quality and accuarcy of these kits. I also wonder about the Imex Harleys. Thanks

I also wonder about the Imex Harleys. Thanks Don't know about Imai, but I've built several of the Imex Harleys, and they're fantastic! Great detail, easy to build. I've added some additional detail and/or customized these to some extent, but still, out of the box they're great!
MikeMc Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I built the older IMAI FXE Shovelhead Fatbob......OK kit....looks poor compaired to Harrys IMEX though.
Lyle Willits Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Imai and Imex are the same kits. I forget now which name changed into which name. They seem to be hard to find now, but then, I don't get involved with Ebay. They are excellently detailed, accurate kits. This is an Imex Heritage Softail converted to a '93 "Cowglide". I added a few details,,,,,,,,yeah, I added some details to her too.

Sweet build Lyle, but that is not called a "Cowglide"....Harley called it the "Nostalgia Glide"....Everyone I know in Milwaukee called it the"MOO Glide" I suspect the name change came after the Evo motors came out in '84....had to do with royalties??
Lyle Willits Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I'm well aware that Harley did not call it a cowglide. It was knick-named a cowglide throughout the country and among Harley riders. My brother in law had one.
MikeMc Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 And your build is beautiful coming from a 20 yr life member of HOG Chill Bro
Privateer Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 Hey thanks guys!!! Those are all awsome builds!!! I am going to have to grab some of these kits.
