looking through E Bay I came across this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/374775733842?hash=item57425fde52:g:sgQAAOSwJxpkmJjg&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAAwPq1XnkH3eAnytNzAJNhWYqwNa%2Fwqd5T9Fg3PRSdZZdLdQV79IiXpMNEmmU1HabLO1UAZPy8T%2BZTMlnsqER8Ym27aZPpjc3R57jM7XrHPLUqBNx7dVDcnPJapwbD8MjFIuVHVwU8qSoeTiHGz1f4cAUr072zpwoTgkglW0YGlJQA93lImEOaq9CU2p8tzihhUbowO9Pk4xS4%2BwbktNSAsVB6dhMxsPv1KJ2B4UgjEyee0zTemp9lxVJuXW%2Be9kL%2Bhg%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9DTmPueYg

Anybody hear of this? looks like a Camaro kit. Box top art states kit unable to build. You woulda thunk that they would have thrown in all kinds of mismatch parts in the box.

i have never seen this before. i like how the instructions show to connect the headers to the seats

i have the old amt diamond in the rough kit that has a dented 1940 fold. it would have been cool if it was a junker mold

Sure, maybe for dozen to maybe even few hundred buyers.  As I see it, we here are not good representation of what the general modeling public will buy.  If the make run of a kit they need to sell thousands for the kit company to make it worth their while.

Unless what's inside the box is that very car that is pictured on the box art.  Steve G, any thoughts on that?

I never saw the movie and just do not get the collector appeal in this case as the box art is borderline false advertising.  Then again a penny is a penny unless you collect coins and like any collectible the value is based on condition and supply and demand.

I saw the movie for free at the local premier. I really don't remember the details clearly, but I think these were give-aways. IIRC, there were only a few at the showing and I didn't get one.

Hence this warning....

They where give away promotional items for tv and radio types that went to the premiere to get the buzz going.

The collectability I think lies in the fact that very few where made and most likely, very few survived. As a freebie to promote the movie, odds are that quite a few ended up in the trash with other freebie giveaway junk.

I think it is the nostalgia, if you have seen the movie, and the tie in to this hobby that makes it desirable.

I know I want one! LOL!

I don't see that one making a comeback as a mass market kit.  If you're a box art collector or movie fan it's certainly a cool item to have, the contents were all bagged MPC kits, possibly overstock.  Most contained a mid '70's Camaro but others had a Trans Am and I heard that some even had the Dodge Warlock Pickup inside, but I've never seen one in that box.

If there was even a chance this thing was reissued, the rare original collectibles would instantly lose value.  This is silly.  I understand that movie was crappy to begin with (I don't even remember it back in the '80s), and there really isn't a cult following for it like for other cult classics.
