I tried my hand at doing a lowrider paint scheme on this 66 GTO. Not exactly great work but I enjoyed practicing with the HOK and Ultracolor paints I had and trying to learn how to use them.

It has quite a few "dings" in the paint from bumping it when the paint was still wet while trying to remove tape. Oh well!

I probably will never go this detailed in another paintjob as it turned out to be a lot of work. It did, however, give me a lot more respect for those who can do the phenominal lowrider paint jobs. Definitely takes some serious vision and skill.

The only non kit parts to this build were the tires and wheels and I added a dash from a 65 Grand Prix for a little custom touch.

Cool ride. The first one is always the toughest. For a first try I'd say it's pretty good. The pattern is symmetrical and straight. The interior is very well detailed and painted.

Thank you all very much. I am extremely happy with the chassis and engine details. The body, I'm happy with. Thanks again.

If I had done this model, I would proudly display it in my collection. The color combinations, graphics, stance all look great to me!

Nice lowrider Tom. Those graphics look great. Trying new things with your models is, for me, what it's all about. Your detail work is spot on and I particularly like your chassis detail. Well done and thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

David. ??

Have to agree with the other comments, for a first attempt that came out very well. I think my problem with that type paint job would be having to continually think in a negative pattern while also working on the positive aspect.  Anyway, the overall build is very well done, one very fine model.

Excellent work. If you hadn't said so, I wouldn't have thought this was your first attempt at this style paint work. Very well done.

Thank you! I'm glad you all like it.

This is the second "Swap Build" that SamIAm and I are doing. We decided to each build a GTO- Mine a 66, his a 67- and then swap them.

Yours is definitely more detailed than mine, and cleaner. And no...I haven't found the instrument panel yet, or the distributor. ?
