Monogram 55 Chevy Street Machine 2n1

Recommended Posts

Did not like this kit. Nothing seemed to fit right. But I knew it was an old kit when I started, didn't expect much.  Did the best i could with it. Paint is Tamiya X-4, interior is a combination of X-4 and semi-gloss black. Thanks for looking, all comments welcome.

Great looking paint finish and body trim. Like the wheels and tires along with all the chrome suspension hanging down. The engine looks the part, more drag than street, but looks good this way.

Hey James…this is a notoriously tough kit to build.  The tool is really wore out, some of the panel lines and trim lines don’t exist any more and some of the body panels are pretty warped.  Yours turned out pretty cool, that blue is really nice, can’t help but wonder what it would look like with a bright white in a typical 55 Chevy two tone paint job.  Also, the white showing through the holes in the wheels kinda of washes out the details of the wheels…I think if you painted the surface behind the wheels a dark color it would really make the wheels “Pop”.  Not criticizing, Just an old guy’s 2 cents worth.  Looking forward to seeing your next build😎

This is not an easy kit to build and yours looks great. Looks like a mean machine ready to take on all challengers.

Thanks.

Thank you. It would have looked good in two tone, but I'm not very good at painting a two tone. The wheel backs I painted a metallic silver, but the camera flash washed them out, looks a little better in person, but I think they would have stood out better painted black.

Turned out pretty nice James.  Your right, this is an old kit and the tools are worn out.

Thanks Bob.
