bobss396
'37 Chevy Modified from a few years back. It made the magazines, won some trophies. Now showing some age with yellowed decals. Bumpers and wheels I made from aluminum stock.

bobss396
Tires are resin pieces that were badly formed. I trued them up on a lathe, painted with TS63 black and lettered.

This is where I saw them first, around 1966 probably at Islip. By 1970 the coupes were slowly being replaced, by 1972 the Vegas and Pintos were all over. bobss396
I'm doing a Richie Evans coupe as a consignment for a good friend. While I'm deep unto it, I'm also making items up for an upcoming '36 Chevy modified. I have the cage (from scratch) built, also made up a simple jig to build on. I need to get a CAD program on my new PC so I can make a better cage. The ones in the kits are not so great.

The mini-mods were an evolution from the old VW class at Islip. Slowly the VWs were edged out by the fabricated chassis cars, which were wicked fast. Then one day the division was GONE, around 1983. I ran into someone who was on a team around 1987 and found out what happened. An Islip track official tried to shake down the series sponsor for a kickback, who was Amsoil. The sponsor said NO and that week the division was kicked out.

I was on a monthly bowling league about 12 years ago and ran into one of the former drivers, he was quite a bowler.
Reegs
It was so long ago. I only remember one name from back then. Edited September 15 by Reegs
