Ford SVT 30th Anniversary and Mustang Memories All Ford Show, Ford World Headquarters, Dearborn, Michigan, August 17-20, 2023

Recommended Posts

On Thursday August 17th and Sunday August 20th, 2023, Ford Performance and the Mustang Owners Club of Southeast Michigan (MOCSEM) joined forces to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Ford Special Vehicle Team along with Ford Special Vehicle Engineering and Team Mustang. Here are some photos from this very successful Mustang Memories All Ford Show.  Reunions of Bronco owners (all generations) and Ford Mustang Bullit cars (all generations) also took place at the event location.

There were several 1971 Boss 351 and Mustang Mach 1s at the show, so I took some detail shots for those of you building - or planning to build- the new Revell kits.

As some of you know, I was the Ford Special Vehicle Team Marketing Manager and Team Leader from 1995-98, so I was honored to be involved in this memorable event. Use the "Roll View" feature to quickly scroll through the images while also seeing my comments...thanks for looking!   Tim Boyd

Hi Tim!

Thank you for the extensive "report". It goes to show that your 1/1 scale career was as impressive as your 1/24 one!

As an old Ford guy, that Mark VIII in candy red would do just fine. I had 3 Contours (95, 96 and 95 again...), but not the SVT variety as the red one you posted. It was a vigourous car with the V6, and I can only imagine the SVT version...

A neighbour had a "turquoise" 70 mach 1, just like the one in your report. All the teens on my street were dreaming about such a car. Nostalgia...

Thanks Claude.  I had a series of Mark VII LSCs and several Mark VIIIs.   My favorite of all was the last iteration of the MkVII with the BBS wheels,  especially the 1990 I drove ordered in the light silverish blue clearcoat with the navy interior.  One of the MkVIIIs I drove was just like the one mentioned in your response, but I never warmed to that generation the way I did to the later vintage M7 LSCs....

Glad you enjoyed all those Contours.  One reason the SVT Contour was so good was that it was based on such a good basic car design, IMHO.  Unsung heroes, in my view.

Ahh nostalgia....yes, so true!   TB

Hi Tim!

You lucky guy!

A good friend has a 70 Challenger 440 6-pack (matching numbers) that I just finished the bodywork and primer on, and he told me he has a '90 MK7 LSC for sale... and the car has only 72000 kilos on it (about 40k miles)!!! My brother is looking at it, so I might be able to enjoy a ride soon, who knows?

I had an 85 Turbo-coupe (manual) that was tha same pearlescent silvery-blue, a great shade, except for the disc-brake dust that plagued the trunk lid tail section with minuscule rust-spots in the clear coat. It took me a while to figure where it came from. Those "aerobirds" were cheating the wind all right... but the rear turbulence carried the brake dust in the wrong places. Oh well

Thanks for posting.  Has it been 20 years since the Ford 100th anniversary?  My son was almost three and daughter was six and my wife drove the Windstar and I drove the 72 Mach1 the 500+ miles each way.  The variety of historic Ford on display, the icons of Ford raving history, the hundreds of cars there from owners all over all over the US and Canada and beyond was a once in a lifetime experience.  I shot a lots of film (before I had a digital camera) but all the prints are in storage which I will have to dig out.  Here is one picture of the Mach1 in front of the HQ with the 100th anniversary logos on the top of the building.
