Ok fellows, I'm trying to figure out what my next victim is up on the bench.  I just got this Iceman Top Fuel engine in and these Classic five slot wheels W/Drag Slick from Jay's.  I'm thinking this might make a mean looking Drag car.  The fenders would have to be notched to allow the exhaust tubes to clear and that would let the engine drop down about another 18" but should look pretty kewl.  The Jay's Drag Slicks and skinny front tires really look the part.  In reality it should be chopped but I've never done that before.  If anyone has chopped a '34 Ford Coupe before I'd be interested in some pics of the process. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Love the engine man, i like this project already

Thanks Fernandez.  I'm going to take another look at it again this morning and mockup a little more to make sure it's what I'm looking for.

Iceman makes good stuff. Are those Jay's Resin Wheels? I buy them on eBay, good stuff as well.

I have a '34 coupe also going, plan to use a VCG Resins 409 Chevy and a 5-speed, also by VCG. I have a very nice chopped body from Drag City Castings (Ed Fluck Jr.). I got it at a show maybe 15 years ago.

I did chop a '32 three-window body, Norm Veber wanted to use it as a master, but it took me forever to get it looking right. I cut out the roof insert first and made a blank panel as an interm filler, this I used to get the roof parts lined back up.The top was cut into 6 parts. Attached is a coupe of sketches I came up with.

Yup, Jay's Resin Wheels 1948 off ebay.  When I got the Top Fuel engine in from Iceman the block had a major flaw when it was printing.  I contacted Iceman and he had me a new block in a few days.  Great support for his product.  Thanks for the infor on the chop.  Not really sure at this point if I'm going to chop the top or not.

Pic #1 shows my first cut out on the fenders.  Didn't like it and from the advice from a good friend I moved the engine back and batched to holes.  Now in pic #2 there is a much smaller hole for the exhaust turbes.

I may have combined the #1 and #2 pieces and left them intact. You can always separate them later.

I worked on moving the engine back a little further and the front and rear suspension this morning.  The front will stay pretty much in the stock location but the rear I had to do a lot of mods.  The Chassis had to be cut to except those Big ole meats, the stabilizer bar and axle shafts were shortened along with the differential mount.  The shocks and shock mounts had to be relocated inboard but should work ok.

Nice work on the rear. Other options are cutting the entire back half off and doing some extensive surgery. This is where at least for me they turn into Frankenstein projects.

There is a guy on eBay, Juan4you that does a lot of 3D stuff. He has aback half that looks interesting. Possibly something in a Jaguar format too.

Thanks.  I hear ya man.  I've kit bashed using the AMT 67 Chevelle Pro Street chassis and the 66 Chevy Nova Pro Street chassis before.  I'll get around to back halfing one somewhere down the road.

I have both of those cars on the bench right now, the '67 is a little ahead. The '66 needs a ton of work to correct kit issues, but both have a very simple back half to them.

Zip, you know we are modeling buds, and I will be there to applaud the finish. But in MHO the motor is too big. But I'm guessing you might be able to prove me wrong. Model on Bro.

I hear ya dude.  I'm trying everything to make this engine work but I think I'm running out of options. We'll see what happens.

I have one started (why finish ONE when you can start SIX more...) and am using a kit bashed 409 in it. And a chopped resin body. I;m close to assembling the rear, I have to look at another one on the shelf, the instructions are not that great.

Nice.  Love the looks of the fat fender early iron.

I got out in the garage this morning and started the assembly on the Top Fuel engine and got it wired.  I went with aluminum heads and titanium valve covers and oil pan and blacked out the rest.  I had to pin the distributor to the block as the fitment wasn't all that good.  Did a little mockup and I think it's going to look ok.
