Devyn
Anyone have a comparison of these 2 paints? I wanna see how different they might be. Thank you!
Dpate
I own both, but can’t make a comparison right now. I will say though their metal color is the better version. I’m sure you’re asking because of price difference no? Their metal line up is there new version with finer pigments. It's more about shipping speed and my personal patience lol. I used Model Air on the entirety of my kit, but in the process of loading up my airbrush, I spilled the remaining that I had. Now I'm working on the final section of the kit which I want to mask off and spray a silver stripe across the body. But I don't have the exact same aluminum as I used before. I'm just curious how different they might be and if it would be too obvious. If they're similar, I'll use the Metal Color that's arriving today. If they're way too different, I'll wait for the Model Air arriving in 2 weeks

Some pics of the results would be much appreciated. Edited September 9 by NOBLNG

But I figured I would ask to see if anyone has anything on hand
NOBLNG
I think this is only the Metal Colors? https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/73712-my-personal-tests-with-vallejo-metal-air-paint/

It doesn't exactly help as images might be deceiving. I have no idea if it's more metallic or an entirely different shade still. But at least I know it looks good either way

It’s like how Mr hobby came out with there super metallic 2 version that’s better than there older version. Much finer pigment, much better realistic finish. Just like Tamiyas X-XF line up of metallics the flakes are bigger, and not as fine as there LP line up. I replaced all my X-XF metallics with there LP versions there that much better. But I would do what NOBLNG said , and test it on a spoon or scrap piece, and than compare it next to your model.
Dave G.
The metal color line is just that, designed to simulate various metals. In this case basically aluminum plate. The model air line is more paint like, as mentioned it's likely more metallic. I seriously doubt they will match. You'll have a hard enough time getting a second bottle of model air to match, metallics are difficult like that.

It ended up being close enough for what I was doing and I'm super happy with the result
