Mach2 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Greg drove this Monte Carlo at the Memphis race. Thads decals, great as always, Rustoleum auto gray primer, dupli-color Autumn Maple Metallic on the TV panel and Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Global Blue. I'm really upset with myself. As you can see, the decals were damaged at it was my fault. I wanted a sheen to the finished body after the decals were installed. I have used Pledge furniture polish sprayed on a cotton sock and wiped on the body over the decals. This has worked well to provide a sheen, not a shiney finish but a nice sheen. Well, this doesn't work over ALP's decals, it's fine over cartograph decals. After wiping the body and wiping the excess off, everytime the body is touched part of a decal touched comes off. Sorry to have screwed up your great decals Thad. I guess I could call it Post Race Finish, but that don't get it. How about this view, like seeing the car behind through the TV panel camera. Got this idea from Billy, thanks.
Jay Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Anytime you try and "rub" Alps decals with anything you run the risk of having this happen. I would either spray something like Tamiya clear over them or get yourself an airbrush and some 2 part automotive clear. I've never had a problem using either over Alps decals. It's all in the quality of the materials you use to get a great finish... I know it's harsh, but best leave the Pledge for furniture.
Mach2 Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 Yep Jay, used the Pledge on cartograph decals with no problem, never with ALP's though. Won't again either.
