The green has landed. Had to take the chance because this is the one decent day amidst weeks of heavy rain etc...

I tried using gold under the British Racing Green to alter the shade but it didn't make much difference.

For a modern paint formulation it actually covers very well, I could have got away with one coat. Green looks darker in the photos than the real thing. Happy with the finish overall. Got to leave it to fully harden, if I can find the patience.

Started bringing it all together. Started painting the interior, did a little foiling, put the mascara on the windscreen rubbers.

Can't say that I'm over the moon with the colour, it does actually look better in reality but it's all I could get, it's  going to have to do. On the plus side, the stance and proportions look right so not all bad.

This build is coming together very nicely, your patience and hard work really transformed a mundane manufactured kit into the real thing! Decals will make it pop!

Tell you what, there is one advantage to being on medication. The blister packs make great little mixing pots for touching in details. Here I needed to make British Racing Green metallic so put two little pools of silver and green next to each other.

Once finished put tape over the blisters and seal it in, ready for use later.

Finish the tablets first of course, NOT ALL AT ONCE!

Had a bit of time last night to apply Hycote chrome effect to various parts. The battery boxes required careful masking and then the complete chassis covered. Also the bottom pan of the air filters, the fuel tanks and steps. It's not chrome, you don't expect it to be, but a sight better than I imagined when I bought it. I've learned from experience that it doesn't like being handled too much but the overall effect is worth it.

The straps for the air filters are aluminium duct tape. IMG_20240603_1844363342.jpg.fc49b70806a7f0f738d9234343fce614.jpg

Not a lot done today because I needed to use the rare day of good weather to paint my double sleeper Bison.

Applied the button VIT decal to the door panels seats and rear wall of the cab. It's quite rudimentary and it will hardly be visible but it adds to the Sundance vibe.

Also polished the stacks and added the perforation decals to them, they look good.

Did some chassis work today. Piped my air tanks up. Fitted the pogo stick and formed gladhands from 1.5mm aluminium tube. Fitted the quarter fenders and made mudflaps out of electrical tape. I checked the decal sheet I bought off Modeltruckin' and there's no KW emblem for the mudflaps. Drew a black line around the tank straps to simulate the rubber strips. I'm having to work very carefully so that I don't damage the chrome paint on the battery boxes.

Overall I think it has the Sundance stance about it. Quite pleased. Approaching the decal stage, quite scary for some reason.

Keep going! Looks great!

I know the decal stage always makes one a bit nervous but actually there's no reason. You've done such a wonderful job on this! I'm sure you'll do the same with the decals!

I've made the experience that Modeltruckin decals are of good quality and allow enough sliding around to put them into place before they stick so no worries! ?

No problem! You're such a good modeller, I doubt you'll have any problems!

I had the Modeltruckin decals for Rubber Duck and Pig Pen! They were very good quality, better than Amt as a fact. I'd put them in the Italeri fraction.

I was about to order the "Bruhn Trucking" decals there too but since they're not too complex I decided to save the money and made them myself!

Thanks Jürgen, it's the first time I've used Modeltruckin' stuff so that's reassuring. Just trying to do everything I can remember to do before I go ahead.

I like making my own decals and would have tried with this one but I couldn't see how to do the S.Pruitt on the door because it's white and arched.

You'd need white decal sheets for the writing but you'd have to cut them out by the letter!

A tricky thing! If you use transparent sheets you can't print white!

If I'd have to make them myself I'd try to put the writing in a matching green background, which would be very hard to hit! Or you'd have to print the letters in a different color first and print white on top. Still not easy!

I think you've done the right thing ordering at Modeltruckin!

The results will show you!

Well, they're on. What a nightmare though. I found them very jelly-like to the point that it was almost impossible to keep the stripes straight. The Micro Set seemed to turn them even softer so I ended up using plain water to help move them around. Destroyed one stripe.

However, they settled down excellently and looks good. I'm so relieved.

Decals look great! Very close to under glass. I had a hard time with the  white fender stripe, straight white line decals did not want to follow the curve of the fender. The solution was to buy 1" wide white tape and cut out the half circular pattern.

I'm sorry to hear that you had so much trouble with the decals! I don't understand why they were so jelly like!

Anyway you did a great job with them. Looks perfect!

I'm pondering the white stripe issue. There's plenty of white stripe on the decal sheet so I'll have a go but I might have to sort an alternative.

Maybe it's because of the scale, they're so much smaller.  All is well though.
