I have only built a hand full of resin bodies in the past, but a couple of things to consider. Cleaning of the body or part is most important as others have mentioned. Try doing any of your grinding and sanding away from your normal work area. The dust from the resin can and will contaminate anything it lands on and make paint adhesion an issue in some cases. I suggest wearing some sort of mask for breathing as you don't want to be breathing any of the dust from the resin. Use an automotive type of paint primer on the resin body. Most of the model type paints don't tend to adhere as well to the resin bodies and this goes for the model type primers as well. Any scribing of body lines as well as body trim and window moldings are best done before you get into the primer of the body.

Ditto on the JF kits. I did the White Cabover a couple of years ago and I needed to do a lot of cleanup around the window area to fit the windows in, and they were flat ones I made from styrene. But just as was stated, if you want something different you only have resin as an option, even 3D printed resin isn't styrene thin.

I hear ya man.  Thank's.

I appreciate the info David.  Thank's man.

I added to the bottom of the door panels and filled in the area's that were for the kit hinges.  I have them shaped and fitting pretty good.  I also took the heat gun to the frame and got it to fit the pan a little better.

I hear ya man.  After getting this one I don't think I want anymore.  This is my first and last.

At shows, whoever I go with I tell them, do NOT let me buy any resin bodies. I have made rare exceptions in the case of something Norm Veber has.

I did my recent '64 Fairlane stock car with a Big Donkey body... should have used a kit body, would have saved me 90% of the effort.

I got the engine assemble so I could check out the fit.  I got the chassis modified to allow the engine to set down in it's place.  I think I'm pretty close but still have to do some fine tuning.

Thanks Gary.  Love the AD trucks.  My 49 has a 5.3 and a 92 S10 front clip with IFS.  350 Turbo with a Camaro Big 10 rear end with 273 gears.

Motor looks great Bob!

Thanks Roger.  The Iceman engine makes it pretty easy.

Cool project Bob!  That engine looks great, and has a sinister look to it, I like.  Resin bodies are good, in that they offer options not kitted in styrene. I’ve done 3 or 4 now, and definitely don’t enjoy working with resin. Having said that there are a few more in the stash that will get built eventually.  My only recommendation regarding resin is to do a  VERY thorough job cleaning the body, I can almost guarantee that dawn alone will not be enough. Some of the suggestions above from others would be good to follow, and I think testing the primer adhesion with tape is a great idea. A little bit of extra work, but definitely worth it in the end Bob. I have no doubt this will be another great looking build from you, and did I mention that engine…killer!

Cheers, Steve

Much obliged Steve.  I have some of the Totally Awesome cleaner and some 91% alcohol that I'll clean it with before I give it a final wash with Dawn.

Very cool project Bob!  This little delivery panel with this monster engine will create a real scary drag car but there are many drivers who are not afraid on the race track and it makes quite a show to make it to the finish line.

Resin kits are often the coolest subjects but the extra work produces results that are worth the effort, it just takes a little more elbow grease! ?

I hear ya.  It will be a hand full for about 7 sec.  I'll be getting back on this build since I just finished my 41 Chevy pickup.  I'm already thinking about colors.

I saw the first look at this one on YouTube, looking good so far! Will be watching your progress.

Thank's Doyle.  My dremel tool is going to have to work overtime to get those slicks to fit inside the wheel wells in the rear.

Looking real good, the engine looks fantastic like that, how about that body, you like it?

Thank's.  I like the body style but I know now that I'm not a big fan of resin bodies.
