mrmike Posted April 2, 2024 Author Posted April 2, 2024 Another coat of paint on the body some parts that didn't get enough paint the first time. 3
mrmike Posted April 14, 2024 Author Posted April 14, 2024 1971 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Since the paintbooth was up and running, I added another coat of Tamiya TS-21 Gold to the body and all of the various parts in the kit. This kit is coming along slowly. 5
mrmike Posted May 20, 2024 Author Posted May 20, 2024 I painted more parts for the 442 today! Need some touchups and movin' on. Hey, that's a neat country song! Movin' On! 3
espo Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Like the red inner fender liners. Olds only option, wonder if they would fir a Chevelle? I know they would in or scale world here. 1
mrmike Posted May 22, 2024 Author Posted May 22, 2024 Thanks David, Jeff and Carl! The inner fenders should fit a Chevelle as they are both the same GM product. Or, you can paint the Chevelle inner fenders red. It would save you from dismantling the Chevelle front end completely.
mrmike Posted May 24, 2024 Author Posted May 24, 2024 A mock up to see where I am at. Some touchups this morning and rear spoiler assembly. The instructions don't call out the rear spoiler assembly so I had to guess where the stanchions assembled which way. Looks like I have it. 5
mrmike Posted June 3, 2024 Author Posted June 3, 2024 A little work on the Olds W-30 this afternoon. I did a mockup of the chassis, interior plate and the body and I didn't like where the rear wheels were sitting. I used the wider rear tire (L60-15) and the position didn't look good. I cut off most of the rear mounting boss for the wheel inners and they look 100% better. 1
mrmike Posted July 20, 2024 Author Posted July 20, 2024 I haven't worked on the 442 in a while so I did a mock up to see where I am at. The interior needs decals so that is next on my to do list. Here we go! 2
mrmike Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 Thanks Carl! I need to get more gloss clearcoat and Dupli-Color Gloss Clearcoat is at Walmart cheap.
mrmike Posted December 23, 2024 Author Posted December 23, 2024 It has been a while since I have paid any attention to the Revell 442 that is on my bench. I notice a dip on the right side of the rear suspension and proceeded to take the suspension apart and in the process, I broke the rear axle in two. I am trying to figure out how the axle got that way and repair it. Something didn't go in right!
slusher Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 I have done that before Mike, can you glue it together?

I have done that my self the best way i have found to repair it was cut a piece of a paperclip and use it as a pin and drill out a hole to match the pin and a drip of super glue the piece broke clean just match it up and glue. 1
mrmike Posted December 25, 2024 Author Posted December 25, 2024 Thanks Carl and Richard! I figured out that if I use the second axle in the kit and use some of the parts from the W-27 axle, I wouldn't have to worry about lining up the three broken axle pieces and pinning them together. I just added the center hub of the rear axle and all is fine. Thank you Google.
Moparman18064 Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 Nice workaround! The gold really looks great on that kit.
mrmike Posted December 26, 2024 Author Posted December 26, 2024 (edited) Thanks Rich! I started thinking that there was an extra rear axle in the kit and a little research got me the information that both axles are the same except the differential cover. The gold really does look great! Edited December 30, 2024 by mrmike
