DaddyJ Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 Does anyone feel that a build is cursed sometimes? I am having that feeling with my current Tamiya XJ220. Hopefully you guys can help me with my next "challenge". I had to do so repair work after sanding through the clear coat on the bonnet. I resprayed some color and then laid down several coats of clear a few days ago. All seemed well... But I have just noticed that I created a ridge under the clear coat due to the masking I had to do to protect the grill when repairing the original issue. Is it worth trying to rescue this mistake? I am thinking I could sand down the clear and then flatten the ridge - respray color and then clear once again. This would only be in the section that has the issue. Anyone done this before? I am worried I am just going to compound the problem and make the issue worse. I would strip the whole damn thing but the decals are already down and you can't get replacements that I can find... Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance! The color coat has the tape line ,,so not much else to do but sand it out,,re-spray the color and clear coat,,,if you have a good airbrush you might get away with just hitting that part and blending in then clear it again ..if it was just the clear wet sand and polish would be the answer
DaddyJ Posted February 28, 2024 Author Posted February 28, 2024 Great thanks Scott - sounds like it’s repairable then which is great news. So close to the finish and all these problems are damn frustrating. Anyway thanks for the advice.
