? Thanks for the compliment Rockford!

At the moment I´m printing the new components. Wasted some filament but I´ll be happier when it works!

Well, they almost fit perfectly but there was a bit of warping for some reason in this Print which you can only see when fitting the parts together!

Can't be due to design fault in this case since I just cut the trailer apart in the 3D drawings and separated the parts without changing them.

Anyway, it almost fits perfectly. There is a small gap at the top on the left trailer side but I can cover that up easily!

It's getting there!

These are the new doors with integrated gears. A first try showed that they work!

IMG_20240611_072250_526.jpg.3134472ff7c308570bd3cbb36c7adc56.jpg

Had to split up the doors in three parts each though in order to get the gears printed.

The single gears go between the doors and meet in the middle!

Hope to get it all assembled this evening!

Part 3 is finished!

Now the inner container will be printed in two parts.

Then mudflaps and some minor later not visible parts to support the door mechanism.

After that I'll assemble as far as possible before painting.

First comes the fill primer, then gloss white. After that final assembly and aging measures!

Thanks! I appreciate it! ?

I finished printing the large parts and now comes the small stuff you get on to while you have time to think!

This is the inner container of the trailer!

Now in place:

The underside of the trailer looks a bit rough and untidy but once it's primered and painted it'll look better!

The trailer is about ready for its paintjob! ?

I think I hit the size quite well considering that my references were these screenshots.

Oh, before I forget: I read in one of your WIP threads (sorry, can't remember who's it was) that the holes in the muffler heat shield were done as decals which I thought was a grand idea! I actually took over the idea and applied it on this tractor!

Thanks for the idea, Hope you dont mind my copying it?

Maybe I'll come up with one or the other Idea you can use! ?

and the tail lights as well as the rear license of the tractor!

The new sun visor is almost ready too! Then the tractor is finally finished.

Hope to put the primer on tomorrow!

Looks a bit like a "Bat Truck" ! ?

One more layer will be necessary I guess and the air humidity will keep it from drying quickly!

It'll take a while till it's over sprayable!

The top coat is on but unfortunately it began to wrinkle. Strange was the fact that it was almost dry as it began to show!

IMG_20240616_153922_339.thumb.jpg.7df270f1feadf3fa5fa1d47bd2827465.jpg

I sanded and repainted but it showed again. Mainly on the left side. That's the side that will be showing to the wall! ?

The wheels are also mounted.

Now the fine tuning starts. The yellow struts and then the tail lights and license plate!

Since you can't really see the trailer license, it's just visible as white with black Letters/numbers, I chose a Texas plate! (Not yet attached)!

No doubt it's far from perfect but it looks cool between the Duck and Pig Pen!

Thanks to all of you for following, your great feedback and ideas!

I'll keep following your builds and of course, probably after summer (If we get one) I'll be back with a new project!

Oh yes, before I forget:

I had given myself time till Christmas for this one and since it's finished now, Merry Christmas!

Thanks Rockford,

hope you'll like my next ideas!

I've already figured out some tricks to improve the surface and of course I will choose uncommon projects! ?

Build time trailer (incl. painting): 14 days

Total days of build incl. design: 89 (overlapping processes)

Total hours of project (~ 3h p.d.): 267h

Total no. of parts: 145 (incl. tires and other parts from parts-box)

No. of parts printed (trailer): 126 of 145 in total (~ 87%)

Total no. of printed parts: 324 of 380 (85.3%)

Weight of tractor: ~ 570g

Weight of trailer: ~ 876g

Total: ~ 1.446g

? Wow! Thanks very much!

I'm really flattered!

There will be more! But not from the Convoy movie though!

I just began to design the parts of an IH Conco 4100. After that I 've got a few other ideas.

When those are through I'll think about another Convoy vehicle. Maybe the suggested micro Bus?
