Revell 1969 Nova SS

AMT68

Recommended Posts

Just a basic build of the 1/25 scale Revell '69 Nova SS that was completed from the Yenko kit. I omitted the decals and went with a set of Rally Wheels from the Revell '68 Chevelle kit. Color is Duplicolor GM Medium Garnet Red Metallic over a dark gray primer. Rust-Oleum for the clear. First time building this one and looking forward  at some point to building the other two I have in my collection.

Wow! That paint is super smooth. Really nice Nova there Tom. Sits a little high up front which gives it a quarter mile racer look. Really well done and will be looking forward to the next Nova instalment.

Cheers,

David. ??

Beautiful looking paint color and finish. Clean body trim. The White interior goes well with the exterior. Hard to beat Rallys on a Chevy. These are very nice kits to build.

Thanks David. It's funny how until you mentioned it sits a little high in the front I really hadn't noticed. So it wasn't really intentional.

That is such a nice looking Nova!  To me, it looks like a nice example of what I would have seen in my high school’s parking lot.  Great job!

Really nice looking SS Nova.  The white interior and red body color really pop.  Nice build man.

Thank you Jeremy, Bob and John. Yeah I actually like the more dressed down Novas.

Beautiful work. How did you do the little Nova badges on the fender?

Thanks Mike. The badges are just decals from the kit. I've since started doing foil under paint.

Looks so nice, and amazing finish. What rustoleum clear you use? Most have bad experience with the brand, any tips?

Thanks Pierre. The Rust-Oleum I use is in a green labeled can and indicates a "High Lustre Coating" It's a pretty hot lacquer and I've had best success applying it in lighter coats. I also wet sand lightly between coats after a sufficient build up. Maybe with a better technique I could probably limit some of the wet sanding.

That's a really sharp looking Nova! Does the Revell kit include an engine?

Thanks Noah, and yes the kit does include an engine. I didn't photograph it in part because I managed to lose the upper radiator hose.
