Dave Ambrose
Looks like this problem may have its origin in the Forum software. I'll be checking into that aspect.
Matt Bacon
I'm finding that the thumbnail images in the post previews in the Unread Content stream or forum listing pages take an age to load, crawling in one at a time. It's almost as if although the display size is small, the full resolution image is being downloaded and rendered teeny-tiny... And this slows down any other operation on the page, like scrolling down and viewing older threads. best, M.
bobthehobbyguy
In the past two days the site has been sluggish off and on.
stavanzer
Yeah, I'm getting real slow loading of pages today. Everything seems to 'hang' before loading.
TarheelRick
Forum worked fine when I first loaded it, then rather quickly went down hill. I switched from Chrome to Firefox, still no difference. Very slow loading, especially pictures, also slow loading of replies. Can take as long as 35-40 seconds or longer to open a page. At first I closed the forum, then reopened it, still no difference. This reply is being submitted with Firefox.
Dave Ambrose
Quick update: We've got (had) two problems going on. Our hosting company has been having network and server problems. We've been intermittently affected by this. At this point, I don't have much communication with the hosting company, which is another problem. There is a database issue with the forum software. One of the queries is taking an inordinately long time to execute. It looks like we have a "patch" to fix this, and I will try it tonight. This may also be compounded by some bot accessing the site too much. 1

Ace-Garageguy
Hanging intermittently this AM, some photos just not loading at all. If this was a car, at this point I'd rip out all the OEM electronics and build something that worked.

It wouldn't run sometimes because of a faulty Passlock system, so I rewired it to accept an older non-Passlock computer. I didn't want to send my only computer, the original, away to have the Passlock removed.

stitchdup
i just did a search using the forum search function and all my results were other peoples private messages. be careful guys. i didn't try to open any of them but there was 4 pages of pms and no actual threads. peteski
Are you sure they were personal or private messages and not public messages? Both can be used for communicating between members, and public ones (as the name implies) are viewable by everybody. I accidentally sent a public message in the past without realizing ('til later) that it was public. Anyway, this should have been in a separate thread as it has nothing to do with the subject of this thread. Same in the "Forum now unusable — SOOO slow" (locked) thread where he pointed members here for reporting sluggish website behavior. Speaking of which (and bringing this thread back on topic), the forum has been quite sluggish for me this morning.
Ace-Garageguy
This popped up just now... NEVER MIND. Copy / paste function failed to display a bold-face message obviously intended for an administrator, would only display that lonely 1. that I can't delete. Second time this has happened. A clue? Template forums/front/index/forumRow is throwing an error. This theme may be out of date. Run the support tool in the AdminCP to restore the default theme.]]
