Forum website has been sluggish for the last few days

Recommended Posts

It's been really slow ever since the switch to the new server.  When I click to reply to a post it will either spin for a long time and finally go or it won't go at all.

Is anything being done to correct this? It gets worse every day.

I sure hope something is being done.

Will the moderator please give us an idea if/what is being done please.  And thanks.

I’ve stayed off for a few days because it seems every thing was real slow loading. Now tonight, I logged in and it seemed to get worst. Anyone else having this problem? From logging in, to selecting a board, to posting.

Yes. Really Slow. I've gotten 'Error' messages at least 4 times today.

It's working great right now.

Anybody who's ever worked on anything knows how hard it is to diagnose intermittent problems.

It's not working great for me, It's slower than ever.

Yup, that's the frustrating nature of whateveritis.

Sometimes it works great for some while it hangs interminably for others.

Right now it's hanging very randomly for me.

It's been particularly bad for the past couple of weeks for me.

At first, I thought it was something with my I-phone, but then I realized that it was doing the same thing on my desk top, so it's not on my end.

It's gotten so bad at times that I'll abort my visit to the board because it takes too long to load.

This is one that has to be addressed before we begin losing members.

Yup. I'm about out of patience.

If something I built worked like this...

Same here. You'd think, at least, someone could admit that there is a problem, and that they are working on fixing it.

Dave knows and has acknowledged there's a problem and it's being addressed.

But as I've mentioned before, intermittent problems are the hardest to diagnose.

Everybody's heard the horror stories of cars taken to multiple shops, and the problem was never repaired even though every possible part was replaced.

Eventually, with enough skill, logic, and perseverance applied, the real problem is found and corrected...

For instance: certain late-model GM trucks have insane intermittent electronic problems, throwing dozens of seemingly unrelated codes. ONE GUY finally traced the problem to an intermittent poor ground connection on the main cable (a poor-design issue), and now the fix is common knowledge.

much better today

For me, some actions today are blazingly fast, some still hang, but not as bad as at other times.

I logged on late last night when only a few other folks were on, and it was really fast, just like the old days, so I thought the number of users logged on might have something to do with the slowdown.

Unfortunately, as soon as that thought had cleared my mind, it started hanging again so badly I couldn't even log out.

There are other forums running on the same software. Might be time to contact some of their admins and ask if they're having similar problems.

I DID see one similar forum was displaying the same error message I sometimes get here...

This has nothing to do with the new server, since we never migrated to it as there were problems with the transfer. This is an internal problem that Dave is trying to track down. Sometimes, it is like finding a needle in a haystack. Be patient. Go build something.
